That seemed like a question for Cap to answer, and Silas left it for him as he looked around the area. There were a few things he needed to pick up for his coming projects after all.

Still he kept a eye on the younger children, and tried to keep track of anyone paying too much attention to them.

The children all listened with great interest to the rules. There was even a few "ooh" and "aah" at it.

"But if they don't write the rules, how do you know them?" asked Lyssa.

“That’s why you listen, the world has all kinds of unwritten rules and if you observe and listen you can find them. The people that go there know what to expect so you observe them see how they act, how they interact. It’s like the Force we can’t know what the will of the Force directly, but if we listen, we observe we can see the smaller pieces at work and discern the proper path. It’s a mix of patience and observation,” he said in reply as he guided them through the crowded avenues of the ecumonopolis.

So many languages beyond Basic were at work as they made their way to the literal shack where the juicy doughnuts were made. The sweet pastry smells already working their way to them as they got closer. Fried sweet dough goodness to delight the senses.

Byron added, “So basically pay attention you can learn a lot from what you see, and don’t see… the same with what you hear and don’t hear. Even what people say, and don’t say.”

[Zizzy Roosh]

Zizzy nodded as she looked at Byron, holding little Riko's hand and leading her towards the delicious smells. "It's like how our tendrils simultaneously detect the physical vibrations and chemistry of the surrounding medium, and interact with the force that binds everything together. Simple, right? You can feel it in your tendrils, and you can read it if you know how." She said it as a matter-of-fact, leaving everyone without tendrils appropriately confused.

"Now is this second breakfast or brunch?"

"My lekku can't do that," Riko pointed out.

"I don't think my lekku do that either." Lyssa agreed and lifted up a bunch of Byron's many-lekkus. "Do your lekku do that?"

Bor, who had been quiet up until now, asked; "what's brunch?"

"Breakfast lunch." Silas offered wisely. "Which is what I think this is?" He pondered it for a moment.

"Is that anything like smelling trouble, Meli?" He asked on the subject of tendrils. As he didnt have tendrils or lekku he wasn't well verses on the topic.

Byron smiled at the tendril talk and said, “Well I don’t actually have lekku that is just my hair, it’s only power is to make me look good and get tangled in things. Every species has different ways of experiencing the world around them, many are similar with sight, sound, touch, and so on but others have more nuanced senses like the twi’lek or the togruta.”

“The force builds on those senses,” he added.

“I would call this doughnut time, because why worry about labels when you can just stuff your face with sticky delicious fried dough.”

"They're very soft," Lyssa complimented, "much softer than Nautolan lekku. But very pretty, yes. They don't let you sense better?"

"Yes! Stuff our faces with doughnuts!" Bor, Reg, and Riko were all pretty gung-ho on that idea.

And indeed, business seemed to be busy at the doughnut-shop, with many colorful customers entering and leaving quickly after getting their fried doughy goods.

She gave Silas a thoughtful glance. "I suppose it might be? I didn't think humans had a very good sense of smell, but maybe?" She shrugged. "Reading tendrils is different though. That's something only Mikkians can do."

As they neared the source of the delicious food smells Zizzy gave Byron a happy smile. "Well I like the sound of this doughnut time. Although I might need a nap after all this sugary fried food we're about to enjoy. You do have pretty hair you know "

As buyer of the doughnuts Silas stepped forward to get a space in line. No reason for them all to crowd in together after all. "That sounds pretty special then." He murmured, looking over the Mikkian girls tendrils for a few moments from his place in line.

"You said we only need one bag, right Cap?" He confirmed turning towards Byron.

“The garbage bag special, should be 5 credits, make sure he gets it from the back, the ones on display are usually a day or two old… the old miser,” he said warmly.

“Need the credits?”

"Nope!" Silas grinned. "I said it was my treat after all."

The line was moving along steadily though, and remember the rules Silas cut off further chit-chat for the moment. This shouldn't take too long.

[Zizzy Roosh]

Zizzy did a head count while Silas did his good works. It wouldn't do for a tricksy youngling to go wandering off, although the promise of doughnuts seemed enough to keep them in place.

She noticed that one of the kids wasn't saying much and threw him a little wave. "Hey there Halo, what are you thinking about? Excited about Doughnut Time?" She tried to mimic Byron's accent, failing hilariously.

Byron just smiled and then replied to the hair questions, “Nope the hair sadly does not help me sense anything, though the hair on the back of my neck can be sensitive to danger… but that is probably just an old primitive brain flight or fight response more so than extra sensory ability.”

“Thanks for the compliments all the same,” he added with an awkward smirk.

[Zanja]

"Eh, looking pretty isn't nothing," Zanja put in dryly as she eyed the pastry displays with interest. Another part of her mind was tallying the citizens coming and going in the shop, noting what sorts of people they seemed to be and what they appeared to be up to. Besides buying doughnuts, of course. "The more people like Byron, the more likely they are to buy him donuts, like Silas over there."

"Are you sure all this isn't just a clever ruse in order to buy you doughnuts, Di?" Silas asked from his place in line, turning towards the Zabrak and offering her a wink.

[Zanja]

"If it was I wouldn't be dumb enough to tell you," Zanja pointed out coolly, smirking. "Hey, look, kids, that looks like a Senatorial security detail going past out there. What planet you think they're from?"

[Faily]

"Are you two flirting?" asked Reg, perhaps a tad more perceptive than the other kids about this sort of thing, as he looked between Zanja and Silas.

Lyssa and Riko at least were distracted by the Senatorial Security pointed out by Zanja. "Oh! Hmmm... Alderaan?"
"Nah, they're not fancy enough to be Alderaan. You just always say Alderaan because you like that bo--"
"No I don't!"

Meanwhile, Halo was looking at the pastries on display when Zizzy spoke to him, and he looked shyly at her. Then he looked away, discreetly pointing out to here a stall opposite of the doughnut shop. The owner of the stall was leaning very close to the single customer there - a Nautolan wearing a leather jacket with the symbol of a sun on it.

Byron noticed the peculiar jacket first, it seemed familiar along with the person then again it was a nautolan and despite himself they tended to look alike, which was a horrible thing to consider but to his human eyes and experiences it was true.

OOC: Fail, but maybe the Advantage can be used to know the nautolan?

OOC: While not someone you know personally, you can recall having seen that particular Nautolan before in the Black Sun territory... as one of the sergeant's of the Black Sun.

Byron said to the other older students softly, “Last I checked this wasn’t Black Sun territory so what’s a mid level boss of the gang doing here? Just some honest shopping, with an honest merchant I am sure.”

Byron focused on the scene and realized he knew the owner unless he was mistaken, it had been awhile but it seemed an old scoundrel was up to new tricks… assuming it was the same Beni.

OOC: Triumph used to definitely know the owner of the stall, Benihamusa aka Beni "Fast Mouths", an ithorian who definitely only sells "honest" goods for "honest" prices, if that is allowable. Flipped a Destiny on the roll.
