A Cup of Kaf (Day 9 Late Morning)

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"And you're sassy, Dimples." He teased right back.

"A sensor tech? That's pretty cool, well I suppose it would be neater if there was more to look at it." He regarded her for a few moments, before bringing his cup of his lips and taking a sip. "Have you thougth about studying some stuff on your own? You've got to have some hobbies. I tinker a bit, making things like armor and weapons... Even try and design clothes sometimes."

"Dimples?" Jes considered that a moment, then laughed. "Okay, that's fair. You get a nickname, I get a nickname." She flashed the dimples at him again.

"Design clothes? Really? Like, what sort of clothes?" She stirred her coffee, a thoughtful expression on her face. "I guess I'm kinda in to music? I did it a bunch as a kid. Keyboard and stuff. Maybe I could get one here? I don't know." More uncertain stirring.

That brought around a pause. "I think you got the better deal there, dimples are at least cute. Vent's are.... Venty?" He flashed a smile and shook his head.

"All kinds really, won second place back on Coruscant designing some stuff for a band there, Forushyyk? It's supposed to end up in a music video at one point or another." He puleld out his datpad. "I have a few pictures if you want to see them." As the topic turned to music he grinned. "That's somethign you could do, in your spare time. Maybe you can find a few others too. Form a base band or something?" There had to be a few others here into music.

"Well..." She smiled, "I did say nice vent boy, didn't I?"

"Yeah, I guess." Jes sighed, looking down into her mug. She didn't seem to be drinking that much of it. "It's just hard to meet people. Seems weird that'd be hard, since there's so few of us, and we're all stuck together, but..." She shrugged.

After a few moments, she looked back up, smiling again. "You wanna show me the pictures?"

That brought a soft laugh from his lips. "I suppose that does help, a little."

"I suppose that does make sense." He looked around the mostly empty room. "Social gatherings seem pretty rare around here, and it must be pretty awkward to just walk up to a group to strangers and say hi...." He shook his head, letting the topic drop.

"Sure." He beckoneed her over, before scotching his chair near hers. "Why don't you scotch on over here and you can have a look."

"Okay, sure." Jes said. Tucking her hair back again, she slid her chair over until they were sitting side by side. She tilted her head, peering curiously at his datapad.

Perhaps this a bit too close, but it should be fine. It wasn't like they were anything more then acquaitances after all. "I suppose we'll start with some of the stuff I completed. Though not all of it is clothing." Silas mused as he began flicking through pictures. "The first one is my armor." He explained letting her take a glance at it. "But your more intrested in clothes right?"

He flashed a grin and started to show her a few of the things he had mad. The jacket for Que, the outfits for Forushyyk, next came Dracovina in her dress, and finally the outfit he made for Di. "These are most of what I've finished, there are a few others i'm working on, but they aren't finished."

"Hey, this stuff is pretty good." Jes said. "What are these for? A girl group or something? This one's obviously for a fellow Jedi, right."

She blinked at the picture of Drascovina. "Who's the blonde. Friend of yours?"

"Thanks." He flashed a grin at Jes. "But yeah, Forushyyk is a pop band back on Coruscant, I drew these up for as contest they had." Her next question got a nod. "Yeah, I work on a lot of stuff for my fellow trainees, I spend more time around them then anyone, and it's easy to make things for them."

"Ah, she's closer to an enemy then a friend." Silas explained. "Lady Drascovina Malveaux, of the Sith Empire. We crossed paths with some sith students on our way here, and I tried to take some time to get to know them. Know your enemy and all that."

[Hatoful GM]

"Oh, that's good." Jes sighed. "I was worried she was a friend, and I was gonna have to figure out a gentle way to tell you that she looks like a total B."

She smiled. "These are really good, Silas. Uh... is that a Force thing, too? Designing clothing? Helps you see patterns, or something like that."

"Maybe not a total B." Silas replied. "But close. I noticed a few chunks in her armor, but I think a total B is who she was raised to be. It's how you survive in sith politics?" Always ready to strike down both friends and enemies.

"No." He chuckled. "Just a hobby. You can end up stuck in the temple a lot when you're younger, and there is only so much meditation you really want to do."

Jes gave him a curious look, then shook her head.

"Yeah? Did you grow up in the temple? What was that like?" She crossed her legs, leaning against the arm of her chair.

"I spent most of my life there, but that's the same for most of the children the order decides has enough potential." His lips curled into a small smile. "It's best to start training young after all."

"But I dunno? At first it was a bit boring? I missed my family too. I remember crying quite a bit at first." He glanced towards Jes. "I trust you'll keep that secret."

"I got used to it in time though, made a lot of friends and the Knights and Masters are very kind. Even when they act grumpy. It's hard of course, there is a lot of training and studying to do. But it was nice, peaceful."

"Awww!" Jes grinned, her dimples popping again. "Of course I'd keep that secret. Fair's fair, after all."

She looked thoughtful. "So... it sounds like it was a little lonely at first, but then it got better?"

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Thanks." Silas flashed her a warm smile. It was just a tiny bit embarassing after all. He was supposed to be a jedi right?

"Yeah, it wasn't exactly quick if I remember well. But I found some people that helped, and some friends as well in time. It got better from there, and eventually it came to feel like home." As much as as home as he could remember. "Though the Masters would tell me it's unwise to have attachments like that."

Jes looked at him. "What does that mean? Is that like how Jedi aren't supposed to marry?" She crinkled her nose. "But... I'm pretty sure that Jedi do marry sometime, so I don't really understand?"

"Ah, it's not that easy of a topic to understand...." He sighed softly a bit of pink touching hic cheeks. "And well, puberty and noticing the opposite sex, and everything like that doesn't really make it any easier."

"It's not exactly that we can't marry or have relationships, or stuff like that. It's that it's dangerous." He paused thoughtfully. "Bonds between people they effect you. You get angry when someone hurts your friends, you're sad when they get hurt. You cry when your parents eventually pass away, things like that. And believe me all these emotions are fine, none of these things are inherently bad on their own. It's what you do with those emotions that matter, and the things Jedi can do with them can be very dangerous, for both them and others. Drawing on our pain, our anger, our frustrations for power is easy, and also a quick path to becoming a monster."

He smiled faintly. "That probably doesn't help much more in explaining it. But that's why we are taught to avoid attachments, because being able to accept the unfortunate things that happen to those close to you and not let it effect your emotions is hard." Really hard.

"Oh, um, uh, yeah, that does sound difficult." Jes blushed too, even as she smiled. "Ah... take it from me, it's not really easy for the rest of us, either. Puberty, I mean."

Her expression grew more serious as he went on. "Wow. That sounds really challenging. So... does that mean you can't make friends? Or... you just have to be really careful when you do it? Sorry, it's just hard to understand." She brushed back her hair with one hand.

"Mmm..." He nodded. "I imagien a cute girl like you, didn't have a easy time of it. Guys always asking you out. I suppose I always wondered a bit what it was like though. For others?"

"We can make friends, and we do." He said with a nood. "We just need to be careful, and a lot of time it's more casual relationships? Buddies instead of best friends if that makes any sense?" He wasn't quite sure it it did.

Again, Jes blushed, her eyes going down, even as she smiled. "Well... sorta. I was actually a bit of a nerd in school. Although guys did still ask me out sometimes, yeah."

"So..." She chewed her lip for a moment. "Do you think you'll keep in touch with the other students, then? The ones you make those outfits for, and stuff?"
