A Cup of Kaf (Day 9 Late Morning)

Silas had cleaned up after his earlier excursion and was seated in on of the Base's break room waiting on the arrival on the young woman he had kind of met the day before. They'd talked a bit about havign a chat and this was really the only time he had to do so. A quick message had been sent earlier in the day to set it up. It was easy enough to find her contact information on the bases net after all, and not he waited, casually sturring the sugar and cream into his Kaf.

The young woman from the day before came in. A quick glance around, and she spotted Silas.

"Silas?" She smiled. "It's you, right? I'm not used to seeing you, you know, not in a vent."

She was cute, cuter then he was expecting, but then it's hard to get a good judge of these things through a vent.

He rose as she approached a smile making it's way onto his lips as he extended his hand. "Yup, that's me. It's good to finally meet you Jes. Well, without a vent in the way."

Jes laughed softly at that. "Well, I've always been told I look better without a vent."

She shook his hand; her grip wasn't very strong, almost hesitant. "And you... you look like you're about one point eight meters, reddish hair, and can fit in a vent. Exactly as advertised." She smiled, shyly and quirkily.

"They weren't lying." He replied with a grin, he didn't really mean to flirt, but you couldn't make up for lost opportunities.

"Hope that's not too disappointing? He asked with a laugh, noticing the slight hesitation, his expression softened. "You dont have to worry, I won't bite." Silas said gesturing for her to take a seat. "Or read your thoughts or anything like that for that matter."

"Oh, umm, thank you." Jes sat, a little awkwardly. Silas was getting the impression that a little awkwardly was how she did a lot of things. She did smile a bit bashfully at the compliment.

Her expression turned interested, a smile on her lips. "Can you read thoughts?" She asked, leaning forward a little. "I mean, if you wanted to?"

"Well, not exactly." He explained reaching for his cup of kaf as he took his seat. "I can sense emotions, and the living beings around me. Though its still a bit difficult."

He brought his cup to his lips and took a sip. "There are a few others things as well, but they're a bit harder to explain."

"Oh, hmmm. I guess it helps if you overhear them crying, though. Don't need much Force ability then." Jes tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, blushing just a little as she laughed.

She took a sip of her own cup. "Try me." She said, leaning forward again, her eyes interested.

"Not really, no." He conceded with a warm smile, while trying to ignore her blush. "Though it might of been useful after I spoke up... Might have helped me be less of a weird vent boy."

"Mmmm...." He paused a moment thoughtfully. "Well, I guess the first isn't that hard. But I can infuse my body with the force? Make myself stronger, tougher things like that."

That made Jes chuckle softly. "You're a nice vent boy, if it helps."

"That sounds interesting. Anything else?" She stirred her kaf a moment, looking down at it. "Sorry, I don't mean to pry. But I'm a little Force-sensitive. Enough that the Jedi came and looked at me when I was a kid, but not enough to train me. So it's something I've always been curious about."

"I'll take that as a compliment." He replied with a grin. "But yeah, one other thing... Though it's kinda easier to show then explain... Do you have anything broken on hand by chance? Earbuds that don't work, a comm link? Maybe a datapad or glow rod." It was unlikely, but it didn't hurt to ask.

The second bit of information was a biit of a suprise, and he couldn't help but grin. "Really?: He asked hesitating for a fwew moments. "would you mind if I tried? To well, feel it?" That was a pretty awkward question to ask a lady now that he thought abotu it.

"Not on me." Jes said after considering a moment. "I mean, it's not hard to find something if you want. I think maybe the second kaf maker's busted? Seems like everything around here is broken."

Again, she tucked back a strand of her hair. "Uh... sure, yeah. Okay." She smiled, shrugging. "Do I need to do anything?"

"That could work." He mused, as he looked over towards the Kaff machine. "But I suppose that will have to wait." He continued looking back towards the young woman across the table.

"No, I'm just going to see what I can feel." His smile was warm. "You might feel me when it happens too, it's not like it will hurt though." with that Silas took a deep breaht, his brow knitting for a moment in concentration as he reachd towards her with the force. Curious as to what he might find.

It was faint, very faint indeed, but there was a bit of Force-sensitivity there. The sort that most people would just write off as being uncommonly lucky, or a bit more aware of surroundings, or other people, depending on how it developed. But it would not be more than that.

Jen suddenly scrunched up her nose, smiling. "Oh, wow. I think I... did I feel something? Was that you? It was sorta like... like a tickle on my mind, or something."

"That's me." He assured her with a smile. "Most people wouldn't even notice if I used the force to touch them like that." There was a small hesitation, he knew he had to say something though to keep her getting her hopes.

"The masters were right though, it's just a little. Enough to make you lucky, or good with people. something like that. I'm sure certain relgions might even call it a blessing of sorts."

Even with the caution, it was clear that Jes was still excited. "Wow, okay. Still, that's really neat. Sometimes I get little feelings or something. Mom always said that I have good instincts."

She smiled, a bit less shyly than before, flashing dimples at him. "That was more fun than fixing the kaf machine. We've got more of them, anyway. And we don't even drink that much kaf; there's not a full battalion here, even."

"That's likely how it manifests, in that you have good instincts." He smiled. "You should trust them." They could very well save her life sometime in the future.

That was followed by a laugh. "Yeah, you're probably right, but it's not exactly like I was gonna fix the Kaf machine. I can make things work, like they aren't broken? Not like on a permanent basis or anything, but say if I had a malfunctioning balster? I can fire i like nothing is wrong."

Again, Jes crinkled her nose. "Really? That's so weird. I didn't know the Force could do things like that."

She looked at him, smiling. "So... is that what you were doing up in the vent? Using the Force to fix stuff?"

"Nah, I was just using my plain old muscles for that." Silas said with a grin. "As you said, fixing stuff with the force is a bit weird, and it's not exactly a common ability to come across so learning is slow."

"There aren't really a lot of people around to teach me about it, so a lot of it is testing to see how things go." He smirked. "Not that you want me going into all the boring details about that."

"Okay. You're the expert." She grinned. "Vent boy."

A bit more stirring, then she took a sip of her kaf. "At least you're still learning stuff. So far here, it's just a lot of the same. They taught me how to use the base's sensor systems. Oh, I'm a sensor tech, by the way." She sighed. "There's just not much to look at." She mimed putting a headset on. "This just in, more ice today."
