[D8 EM] Glade to Have You

[Glade]

"Whoa!" Glade ran out into the snow. And, buffeted by the winds, and standing on an unusually slippery surface, she almost immediately toppled over.

With as many layers as she was wearing, she probably could have been run over by a speeder and not noticed. Instead, she laughed, rolling around on the ground.

"It's so soft! I thought it would be harder, like little rocks." A bit more rolling, and then: "Could someone help me up, please?"

[Taime Jorel]

Taime leans down, bracing himself not to slide as well. He reaches both hands down. "Here, be careful. Ice is very slippery."

[Eir]

Eir crunched her way over to Glade, and helped Taime set her upright. The next part was a little more difficult. She'd been unofficially declared Chief of Snowman Operations, and that meant it was up to her to work out how they were supposed to get the snow into a big ball to begin with. Let's start small, the girl scooped together some snow, compacting it like she was building a sandcastle, to see if it held together.

[Glade]

Upright again, Glade waddled over to Eir. The snow stuck together fairly well, without being too wet.

"What should I do?" She asked. "Should I make another ball? Or maybe we should do one at a time. I could help you make this one round?"

[Taime Jorel]

Taime attempted his own snowball and said to Glade, "Why don't we practice making balls? I bet this requires a bit of work to learn how to make them round. We can each make one and practice."

[Eir]

“Well, we need to make it pretty big, as big as you,” she nudged the ball of clothing. “If you keep pushing snow over here, I think I can shape it.”

[Glade]

Glade giggled at the nudge. "Okay. Here I go!"

Waddling over, she briefly considered a snow bank. After a few moments of consideration, she flopped over into it. A considerable amount of pushing and flailing, snow flying, she made her way back to Eir. A small amount of snow came with her; most of it had been lost along the way.

"Here you go!" The process began again.

[Taime Jorel]

Taime was using every ounce of his willpower not to burst out laughing. "That's...very good Glade. You're good at this."

This is great diplomacy practice.

[Eir]

“Keep it up,” Eir cheered, scooping more snow into the mound and packing it down firmly, starting to form a lump.

[Glade]

Encouraged, Glade dove even harder into the snowbank, gathering up a bit more snow.

"Whew! Making a snowman is hard work!" She said as she dropped off her next little collection. Still, she steadily moved back to the snowbank, laughing as she dove into it a third time.

[Taime Jorel]

Unable to help it any longer, Taime laid back in the snow, chuckling to himself as he watched.

[Eir]

Eir threw a handful of snow at Taime, “are you helping, or what?”

[Taime Jorel]

He spluttered and wiped the snow off his face. "I'm helping, I'm helping." He returned to trying to get a snow compact enough to roll. His first two had failed but this one looked promising.

[Glade]

Glade seemed to be improving her technique a bit. At least, she was getting nearly half of the snow that she collided with to go to Eir.

"Whew!" She said, standing up again. "Looks like we're getting quite a lot." She turned from Eir, to Taime, then back again. "Maybe I should help Taime out a bit, too?" She suggested.

[Eir]

Eir kept building up the mound. Her gloved fingers were stiff and aching as she piled more and more snow on top, but they weren't numb yet. "Okay, we still have to work out how we're going to make the top part," the girl patted at the mound, rounding it some more. Don't people roll them, or something?

[Glade]

True to her word, Glade directed her next snow charge over to Tamie instead.

"You mean the face?" Glade said. She extended her hand, poking at the snow with the tip of her glove. "I don't think you can write on it. Huh." She paused, thinking, looking rather like a giant mushroom in the snow.

[Eir]

"Oh, I have some thoughts about that, but it's a surprise," Eir continued to gather and pack snow until she had a somewhat bottom-heavy ball of snow about two feet high.

[Glade]

"Oooh... I can't wait!"

Glade flopped down, somewhat deliberately, on the snowy ground. "Maybe I should start making a ball for the top. That one's the smallest, and I'm the smallest, so it makes sense." She nodded firmly as she began making her own ball.

[Eir]

"Maybe we should roll you around in the snow and use you," Eir teased.

[Glade]

Glade laughed. "I could just stand there, and you could put snow on me!"

She nodded. "But that would be cheating."
