A Hot Wind (Day 7 Early Morning Camp)

Reaching out a hand, Silas poked one of di's horns. "I'm still sticking with you can't make any conclusions until you get all the facts, at least on this. The force knows I've already made enough mistakes jumping to conclusions in the last couple days. They were decent to you, maybe that means they are a decent person. That doesn't mean they always have a lot of choice in what they do though. I Mean I don't know much of underwordly stuff, but it seems choice can be a rare commodity."

"That would be weird though." Silas replied with a chuckle. "Especially since Master Murah seems the type to be disappointed if you ever tried a beer or something."

That was met with a harder swat away, turning into a one-armed stretch. "People make their own choices. That's enough to know. It only took you a couple of days to find out enough about this company so's I don't want anything to do with them, and you're one guy with a datapad."

She arched her eyebrows. "I guess I missed that. What conclusions did you jump to?"

"That's true." Silas agreed with a nod, flopping over onto his back once again to look for signs of clouds. "Oh, I forgot to ask, how is your face feeling anywyas? Your tattoo's still hurt?" It was a change in topic, but probably not a bad one.

"Oh, it's only vaguely related, I figured that Sith Apprentice came snooping around our hotel for some nefarious purpose. But it seems Farissa thinks thats not the same, and well Master Ogrus wasn't too concenred either. So I was starting to wonder if some of their own went missing?" He frowned. "It's hard to tell what people''s motivations are sometimes."

"It's fine now." Zanja was bluntly dismissive on the subject of ouchy tattoos. While they'd still been tender and itchy during the hyperspace voyage, her mood had suffered less because of the actual discomfort and more because she'd been embarrassed everybody could tell she was uncomfortable. "Zabrak people have tough skin, and Master Kerra has a lot of practice."

"Huh. Who knows, though, with the Sith. If some of theirs got kidnapped, smart credits say they'd just think those people weren't strong enough so they deserved it, or something."

"Alright." Silas replied with a nod, no need to pry into that. "Were the ones on your face the only ones you got?" She could of gotten something super cool on her back after all.

"That does make sense." He shook his head. "Which brings us back to that things about jumping to conclusions. It's hard to be correct if you don't know all the pieces involved in the puzzle.

"Mmph. And yeah, that's the tradition." Zanja nodded, the dry grass behind her head making a faint scrunching sound. "Anything else is personal, mostly. Except for some families that're really posh, or really old-fashioned." She frowned thoughtfully. "Do Humans have something like that? How do you people mark when somebody comes of age?"

"Comes of age? Does that mean you can kiss people and drink beer now?" Silas asked his tone perhaps a little teasing. "But yeah? Sometimes? On some planets? My family doesn't really have anything though... So I suppose you can say as a specieies we don't." Which was a little bit disappointing now that he thought about it.

"We just kind of pick a age, but even that varies from culture to culture."

[Zanja]

"Really long ago, like pre-spaceflight, it'd mean I went on the hunt. Big game, like rancor big." Zanja grinned, predatory. Then, sobering a bit, "Or, uh, in some of the tribes, that I killed somebody, or stole a mate, or both. Turns out Old Iridonian society was pretty violent for a while. I read some stuff about the history of it before Master Kerra did mine."

She narrowed her eyes and rubbed at the base of one of her horns. "Guess it's a bit less specific now. I mean, I still have to do all the trials and that. Basically still the same as you Humans, only with more... this." Her hand moved to make a circling gesture indicating her patterned face.

He turned his towards di and eyed her for a few moments. "I can't say I could really see you stealing a Mate." He mused thoughtfully. "The huntign a Rancor or something? Probably," It seemed far more her style. "Still now I am a bit interested, in your society that is." He'd never really thought about it beforehand.

"But I see, that is pretty neat." He offered with a smile. "You'll be all grown up by the end of the trials, at least in the eyes of your society." He frowned. "Though I suppose once we all become padawans most people will be looking at us like adults."

[Zanja]

"I mean, that's the really old days. Iridonia has a load of independent daughter colonies, now, and they're all pretty much like the rest of the galaxy." Zanja plucked at the grass idly. "They'd chuck you in prison if you tried to kidnap somebody and marry them now."

"Yeah, people will see us like that, huh? A Jedi is a Jedi to most people."

"I'd hope so." Silas replied, teasing the zabrak girl a little. "Really though, it's sometimes hard to tell which traditions are active and which aren't when just looking at history. I mean why keep the tatoo's and not some of the other stuff? I suppose laws and equal rights and stuff has some stuff to do with it, but it makes me curioous."

"Yup." Silas replied with a small sigh. "And to some people out there that's a bad thing."

"Yeah, that. And most people don't have to hunt big game anymore either." Zanja chuckled. "Being an adult means different stuff now than back then, but it's still a big deal. I can see why people kept on wanting to mark it somehow." She touched her cheek, looking a bit more thoughtful. "And it connects you. I don't know too much about my ancestors, but at least there's one thing I have in common with them."

She frowned. "Wait, are you worried people won't like you cause you're a Jedi? I'd be more concerned about people thinking it's my job to fix their problems, personally..."

"I suppose I can understand that... It's nice to feel connected." Even if it was only to your ancestors, not that he had much expeience there himself. He'd met his grandparents, but that had been a number of years ago.

"It's not exactly that, Di. I don't really need them to like me, but I do worry about their reactions to me. Will they be scared? Perhaps distrustful? Will they be angry at the order for some slight that I have no knowledge of. I mean, I always thought it was my place as a Jedi to protector the citizens of the republic, and to aid them when I can. So that kind of thing does worry me, people that might not let me protect them, people that might die because of it."
