EVENT: Are You Afraid Of The Dark? (D7, MN, Limited)

[Zanja]

"I thought you people were all about freedom." Zanja frowned around at the glyph-inscribed walls and bloody floor. "But you have to do... whatever this is... the way some old guys did it, huh? Even if it looks like a kriffing slasher holo."

She wrinkled her nose. "What exactly is this for, anyway?"

[Faily]

"Oh, I do believe I am quite free... after all, I could not have discovered this knowledge if I remained chained to the status quo," he mused at Zanja's retorts. "And you know what they say, have to break a few eggs to make an omelet."

[Zanja]

"I only ever made an omelet with vat-proteins. " Zanja leaned closer to the wall and poked at one of the glyphs with a finger. "March of progress and all that stuff, right?" For some reason, it felt really important to appear casual, even though everything about standing next to a Sith lord in a room full of blood very reasonably had her nerves screaming.

"Did you call us here on purpose?"

[O'vala Aeser]

"Man, now omelets are going to be ruined for me forever," O'vala grumbled as she looked at all of the blood. She then stepped up next to Zanja and nodded. "But yeah, did you mean for us to come?"

[Faily]

"I have not called for anyone," he said innocently. Well, as innocently as someone like him could sound. "You came here of your own free will, did you not? Drawn by the Dark side."

Of course, Zanja had no idea in hell of what she was actually looking at. That one kind of looked like a little face, though! A mean face.

"And the dark side conveniently sent you to meet us? Yeah, okay." Zanja leaned her shoulder against the wall. "Well, we're here." She spread her hands palm-up in front of her, a normally inviting gesture that she somehow managed to make seem surly. "So?"

"Tut tut, little child, not so fast. If you want power, that is all well and good, and it is something I can provide. Granted that you three are capable of understanding it," he admonished her in an eerie father-like tone. "And that you are willing to embrace it."

[Zanja]

"I dunno, you can pick up some nasty pathogens if you go around embracing stuff sight unseen," Zanja said, greatly daring. Cripes, but this guy was creepy. And she'd thought Human children had bad reactions to her...

[Ares Pax]

"Maybe the Dark Side wanted to tell us something." He narrowed his eyes at his surroundings. "What did these people die for? For you?" He was tense... afraid, but trying to fight the fear away with anger.

[Faily]

"Why, I never said I killed anyone," said the perfectly innocent Sith.

"There is much I can teach you that does not require death. Only your cooperation, and you will become more powerful than what your teachers can do for you now."

[O'vala Aeser]

"Well, either you have people lying around waiting to get blood drawn or you have a supply in your closet. Neither are really that enticing." O'vala shrugged. "Or it could be your own, I guess."

[Faily]

"A rather uninteresting topic, and your presence is beginning to bore me. At least your fellow student earlier today was much more entertaining... alas it seems it is the failures who have come tonight." Destrus sighed and looked at the wall to the side.

"And here I was going to give you the power to protect the ones you love, and show your teachers your true potential... the secret to bringing back the dead is one I'll keep to myself for now."

[Zanja]

"What?" Zanja straightened up with a deeply skeptical expression. "That's not a thing. Unless you mean, like, cloning."

[O'vala Aeser]

"You're lying," O'vala growled. She looked over at Zanja and shrugged. "Unless you mean cloning."

[Faily]

"Nothing as crude as cloning," he tutted, "but this is not something you will learn from the Jedi."

[O'vala Aeser]

"So what? Am I supposed to run off to Sith day camp and learn some mystical ability to bring people back?" O'vala looked to the others. "We're about to leave. And if you were telling the truth, then all those Sith that died in the war or all the others ones wouldn't be dead, now would they?"

[Faily]

His laughter was hollow and bone-chilling. "You say that as if I have an interest in bringing back my rivals and enemies. Oh, sweet child. How little you understand. Allow me to give you just a glimpse of power."

Purple electricity sparked across his covered hand and with a flick of the wrist, the lightning spanned across the room, reminding them how close they could be to being fried themselves. "Kneel or flee, children. Cower in your fear, or bow down to true power."

O'vala looked at the lighting. Maybe she'd be more scared, but that kind of just made her mad. But she also knew she couldn't possibly beat this guy in a fight...

"Time for a tactical regrouping!" O'vala waved to the others and started sprinting towards the exit.

On her way out, she shouted, "I know that you meant to hit us with that! That was a miss!"

[Zanja]

“Shit!” Zanja hissed, both hearts leaping in her chest as lightning played over the cavern. “I don’t want power I got to kneel to some psycho for.”

She took one last wild look at Destrus and his handiwork, trying to commit any useful details of the scene to memory as she turned to bolt up the tunnel after O’vala.

Zanja could get a clear look at some of petroglyphs as they fled the scene, images that didn't quite make sense in the moment, but that she could understand were important.
