On a Mountain Side (Day 5 Mid Afternoon)

Silas didnt know a whole hell on a lot like lekku, there weren't a huge amount of Twi'leks around him at present after all. Still it sounded neat.

"Sure! I'm better with machines, but it sounds like it could be a interesting read. Something to do on the way to Ilum at least."

[Eir]

“Cool, but you think you’re gonna be bored, maybe I can bug you to help me with my armour.” Eir had a bad habit of finding things interesting for no apparent reason, and her “studying” was often a mish-mash of loosely related topics that had caught her eye.

"Sure, that'd be fun." He repleid with a grin. "I've made most of the stuff I wanted, so I'd just be working on stuff for other people anyways. Well, if anyone else wants anything that is." He really hadn't asked anyone, we'll other then Aina, and that was more making somethign cute, then making armor.

[Eir]

Nodding firmly, “you have to promise you won’t laugh,” there was one design she’d saved, but not shown Silas yet, something that she thought looked cool. “I will break your nose,” Eir warned.

"I won't laugh." Silas replied, beating down the urge to chuckle at what she said. "I'm sure it will look just fine." He reached up and touched his nose. "Tons better then I'd look with a broken nose at the very least."

[Eir]

She giggled, “you never know, might make you look rugged. Here,” she offered him her datapad, a crude drawing on the screen. The design was straightforward, the flexible ‘plating’ concealed so that it wouldn’t be apparent at first glance. The hooded scarf was darker than Taime’s new jacket, and both shoulders had long feathered plumes, a clearly stylistic choice.

"I think i'm a bit too young to pull off rugegd yet." It wasn't like he was as old as Corvin or Jaric after all. Taking the datapad he looked it over. "That's not bad at all you know, these feather plumes kinda looks like wings." Which he thought ratehr matched her nickname.

"I think that makes all three of us wearing blue as well, the thermal cloak I have is blue too."

“Blue is a rocking colour,” she flipped the ends of her hair, the blue-dyed tips contrasting against the pure white. She agreed that the plumes looked like wings, and she liked that aspect, but wasn’t about to admit that. Plus she felt they weren’t so overdone as to be obnoxious.

"That's true." Was that why the republic used it? "It might be my favorite color now that I think about it." Was that truly the case though?

"But I think I flip flop on that quite a bit too."

[Eir]

Eir looked thoughtful for a time, “a bazillion years ago, blue and purple were the hardest colours to make clothing, and blue and purple cloth was super expensive. I think at least a few species had, like this,” she brought her hands together, “convergent evolution thing, where purple was reserved for only the most important members of society. So, maybe, it was a sign of respect? a show of power?” her theory was only half-baked and she trailed off.

"That could have something to do with it?" I mean it wasn't something he could really confirm but it seemed logical.

"Do you think that's why so many find blue to be an attractive color then? Because eons ago powerful people wore it, and some people are attracted to power?" But why then did the sith like red? Was it because red and black looked edgy?

[Eir]

Nodding eagerly, “Oh, definitely. Beauty standards reflect the wealth of a society. Before industrialisation and automation, people worked hard all their lives, only the wealthy could afford to be indulgent. So, being plump and fair-skinned meant you had enough credits to sit around inside all day, and that was ‘beauty’ for a while. Then with automation and technology, suddenly everyone is sitting around inside all day working.”

“So then it became a sign of wealth if you could keep fit and go outside recreationally, and the cultural idea of ‘beauty’ changed.”

"Oh, well I suppose that makes sense." Though as far as Silas was concerned he was perfectly fine with the beauty standards of today.

"I suppose there are differing standards of beauty between different species too. In some strength is a prized attribute so slim wouldn't be considered desirable either." He mused thoughtfully.

[Eir]

Eir murmured in agreement. "There's a lot of variables and, for most species, the Industrial Age was a very long time ago."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Thousands of years." Silas confirmed. Likely a tens of thousands for some. "I suppose even that has it's trends though. Maybe one generation the man needs to be heavily muscled, and the next fit and trim for example."

[Eir]

"People trying to set themselves apart. I think meeting new races has had a massive impact too, when before they only had themselves to draw on."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"You're likely right, especially when you take into account all the various races with similar characteristics." Pantorans and humans for example.

He let his eyes scan the path as they moved along, coming to a halt a few steps farther along. "Hey, is that a goat?" He asked pointing into the distance.

[Eir]

Eir shaded her eyes and squinted, "yeah, I think it is. Hey, let's try something." She fished out her datapad again and quickly loaded a video of a mountain goat. Turning the volume up, she played the video, tinny and slightly distorted bleating coming from the little speakers.

The attempt earned a funny look from Silas, but he didn't try to stop her, instead listening for a few moments, before turning his eyes towards the goats.

"Do you think that will work."

[Eir]

The goats appeared to be listening and, just when Eir was about to admit sheepish defeat, one of the real goats gave an offended sort of grunt-bleat. It was a lot louder than the girl's datapad. "All right!" she bounced on the spot a little.
