[Mir]

"Uh." he scratched his ear. "Not with what I can do, I think. But if I could learn to do more." Mir pointed at the window and waggled his paw as if he was reaching for something beyond. "But I would like to do something as soon as I can. There is so much suffering out there. Slavery is legal in the Empire!" he sounded rather miserable. "I just want to do good."

[Murah Bakash]

Murah nodded with understanding. "I understand your willingness to help others, but if you do not learn patience to temper your eagerness, you might end up getting hurt... as could others. When you can do that, you'll be able to learn how to better help others."

She sighed solemnly. "As for slavery... yes, it is legal in the Empire, and in many worlds that belong to neither of them. It is an unfortunate truth."

[Mir]

"It's atrocity, that's what it is." Mir huffed, passing his paw to his neck. "Do you know how it feels to be owned? Do you know how it feels to be dragged around in chains, to be sold? To be passed as an item." he patted his chair. "Like this chair here. A thing. A thing you don't need to consider." he shook his head. "I guess the Empire is much stronger then the Republic if we suffer them to exist." Mir's ear's drooped.

[Murah Bakash]

Murah offered a hand to his paw to calm him.

"They have their strengths, as the Republic has its strengths too. The Empire's strength comes from their ruthlessness - they care not for their own people or the value of life. They seek only to destroy or dominate, and that in turn is also their weakness as it is in their nature to turn on themselves," she explained calmly. "The Republic's strength comes from protecting people and life. Sure, it means things move a little more slowly and things don't always go perfectly, but it's done with the intent of taking everyone into consideration."

[Mir]

A soft paw grasped the green hand. "The everyone must truly suffer in the Empire. Well, everyone not wealthy or powerful." Mir notes, his eyes wide open. "Well, most of the people at least." he felt like correcting Murah. "Not the poor people. Still, better free and poor than to be slave."

[Murah Bakash]

"It's not perfect, I admit," she agreed, as she wasn't blind to how unfair even the Republic could be. "But yes, it's a better place than places like the Empire where most live at the mercy of the Sith."

Her hands were warm as she covered Mir's paw. "And the Empire are the types to kill any percieved threat, real or not, without hesitation. The kind who assassinate and murder anyone who is a threat to them. There is no mercy, redemption, or rehabilitation in the Empire."

[Mir]

"Well. At least they are not property." Mir muttered meekly. "They might not be able to do much but at least no-one beats them if they get dick." He blinked few times. "I hope."

"Do they deserve to live? If they are so murderous and heinous?" He hold to her hand, his ears still drooped to the sides.

[Murah Bakash]

"Some of them are probably beyond redemption... but there are those who can see the error of their ways. Is it not better to give them that chance?" she suggested in a kind tone.

[Mir]

"If they can." Mir sounded suspicious. "But don't you think that some are beyond redemption? "Like, if you have done something really truly bad and horrible, can you really repent? Like even if you mean it, can we forgive someone?"

[Murah Bakash]

"There are few I believe are beyond redemption, but I also know that is the idealist in me speaking." She at least was honest about her own beliefs and how others might see them. "Many of the Sith are victims of their world and society. Not all of them are bad, but might do terrible things to stay alive and not be turned on by the others there who might see them as weak, or as traitors."

[Mir]

"But can you bring a sith to republic and expect them to be respectful citizen. I cannot, not after what I heard today. Better they rot on their own worlds." he sighed. "But that leaves everyone else living with them.

[Murah Bakash]

"There are people who have fled the Empire and sought asylum in Republic space. One is called Layne. She is now a jedi, but she hasn't spent much time of Coruscant so you might not have met her. It has... not been a perfect transition for her, but she is trying to make a change. And trying to be a force of good."

[Mir]

"Uh, I hope she hasn't killed anyone." his eyes widened - what effectively meant that he was looking out for a danger. A little bit suspicious. "Anyone decent at least."

[Murah Bakash]

"No, she hasn't killed anyone during her time with us. Her Sith master on the other hand used her to kill his enemies and rivals in the Empire, and she attempted to assassinate an Alderaanian noble too before she was stopped by a Jedi master. He saw in her that there was hope to redeem her from a path of killing and fear, and after showing her the possibility with the Jedi, she made the choice herself to leave that life behind," Murah explained calmly, though the story was a bit more complicated than that.

[Mir]

"Well, you people are masters for a reason." Mir wished this was a case. It would have sucked a lot if someone was made a master because of poly-ticks. He imagined a squirming mass of ticks and then shook his head, his ears moving side to side as he did so. Poly-ticks sounded nasty. "Not like I can say that master is wrong. But was Byron wrong? And if yes, why?"

[Murah Bakash]

Poly-ticks was still a more harmless animal than politics, but Murah had no need to explain that now.

"In what happened, you all did the right thing to seek a peaceful solution rather than resorting to violence at first. The mistake of you and Byron was that you both wanted to reignite the conflict, so to speak, by saying that you wanted to use violence against those people that you had just spoken with."

[Mir]

"Well, they were not very friendly. Like, at all." Mir's paws swung slowly at shadows before turning back to Murah. "But, if and if you have to strike first, would it not be better to make sure they cannot strike back at you. You know, sith or other dangerous folks."

[Murah Bakash]

"I am not denying there is wisdom in that. It is one of the reasons that we carry such deadly weapons as lightsabers, so that any conflict can be resolved swiftly. But," she smiled a bit sheepishly herself, "I admit that is not the strongest point for me to advise about. I have given up on violence because I have seen how much pain that brings others, but I know that is not the path for everyone."

Murah gave his paw a reassuring pat before letting go of it. "Still, you did the right thing in coming to talk about this, Mir. I hope you will take the time to speak with the other masters too when it comes to balancing out when it is time to act with a weapon, and when it is time to extend a friendly hand... or paw in this case."

[Mir]

"Well. Someone's gotta be ready to stab the gits where it hurts so they don't get too many ideas." Mir sounded confident or almost cocky as he patted his training saber. He seemed to be certain that he could be able to make the call. "Uh... everyone else? That is a whole lotta talking."

[Murah Bakash]

"Not nescessarily each and everyone," Murah chuckled with a shake of her head. "But find one that you feel confident enough to confide in."
