[D0 M] Unbelieving (Eir/Taime's Room)

[Eir]

The girl cackled and leaned in, but she was laughing too hard and almost out of breath, “breath weapon! You take four-dee-four damage.”

[Taime Jorel]

He throws his pillow at her. "Pillow of power, you take crippling damage!"

He plainly does not know how this works.

[Eir]

Catching the pillow, Eir clutched it to her chest, “critical damage,” she cried and dramatically collapsed, almost falling off the bed as she did. Her eyes closed and she held as still as she could, letting her mouth fall open and her tongue flop out.

[Taime Jorel]

He raised his hands up. "Haha! Victory!" He got off the bed and stood at the edge of the bed, right above her head. "She was a worthy opponent, even if she had horrible breath." He intoned in a serious voice.

[Eir]

Without opening her eyes, Eir swatted him with the pillow, “still not as stinky as your farts.”

[Taime Jorel]

He tried to dodge but failed. "I swear, you can see through your eyelids." He moved further away, trying to get out of range. "But seriously. I'm not going anywhere. Even if you think I am, I know my own truth."

I can believe for both of us. He thought to himself.

[Eir]

Eir opened her eyes, “T’ame,” her voice was all soft and serious, “you’re going to do great.” She didn’t add how much she would miss him, if their paths took either of them away from Coruscant.

[Taime Jorel]

He shakes his head. "Yeah, yeah and so are you if you don't kill the masters first day with your breath." He stuck his tongue out at her.

[Eir]

"That's what I get for trying to be serious, you fathead," and she sat up, assaulting him with a flurry of blows from the pillow she still held.

[Taime Jorel]

"Ah, ah, I give, I'm sorry!" He flailed around, trying to dodge but also not remembering where things were entirely in the room yet as it was so new.

He puts his hands on his head and peers at her from the side of his eyes. "Truce?"

[Eir]

Eir threw the pillow into the corner of his cot. "All right, truce, but only if promise you'll stay next to me at the orientation tomorrow." The group going through the trials was small, but Eir was nervous enough to feel insecure about it.

[Taime Jorel]

He took his hands off his head and nodded. "Done. That's an easy one."

He gave her a small smile, which was more than most got. "Do you think Chriala will be there? I haven't seen her in a day or two."

[Eir]

“Maybe,” she screwed up her nose, Eir’s relationship to the Master wasn’t as close as Taime’s. The girl scrambled off Taime’s bed and rooted around around under her own cot to find something she’d stashed there earlier.

[Taime Jorel]

He waited. "Gonna slay some dust bunnies before breakfast? You're very ahead of things."

[Eir]

Eir pulled a parcel out from under her bed. It was the size of a small cushion, and appeared to be soft under the grey and silver gift wrap.

“Look, don’t make it a whole thing, but when you said that you were doing the trials, I got you something.” She held out the gift awkwardly, she’d only seen this in holovids and, if that was any measure, things would go well, or horribly, horrible wrong. “Congratulations.”

[Taime Jorel]

The shock swept over his face. "Eir...you didn't have to do this..And I don't have anything to give in return." He looked around the room frantically, trying to see something that would be an appropriate return gift. Oh crap, oh crap, I've already messed up.

[Eir]

Eir snapped her fingers, “hey, T’ame, focus. One, neither of us knew I was going to be here until yesterday, so it was a surprise to you and me both. Two, I didn’t have to and that’s the point,” she sounded exasperated. “I didn’t,” she spluttered and shoved the parcel at him again, “will you just open it?”

[Taime Jorel]

He takes a deep breath and looks at her. "You're right, you're right." Seeing the nerves on her face, he realizes this might be a slightly bigger deal than he realized. "Thank you." And he began to open it, slowly and carefully.

[Eir]

Inside, folded neatly, was one of the signature brown robes common to the Jedi, with oversized sleeves and a deep hood. The fabric was thick and soft,woven with thermal fibres that would keep the wearer warm in the chill and cool in heat. It was almost identical to Eir’s own robe, without the adjustments she’d made to keep from tripping over it. It was an incredibly practical gift.

“Chiala said that you and her would be going off world for the trials, and I know you didn’t have a good cloak for bad weather.”

[Taime Jorel]

His mouth dropped open slightly and he stared, unable to even parse it. This...this was literally part of what he'd worked his whole life for. The ability to wear Jedi robes. And Eir...Eir had made sure he wouldn't be out there in the cold, literally.

Unable to speak, he gently placed the robe down and then threw his arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug. "Thank you." He said, holding her as long as she allowed.
