It was hard at first, but eventually it was manageable. There were so many voices at once, human and Killik, but now joined as one. But it seemed easier for the human ones to speak through the song of the nest.
The zabrak girl had a song of not fitting in, being alone, a difficult family life. She found the nest on her own - scared at first, but she had accepted the ambrosia and nectar. There seemed to be a happiness to her spirit in the song here.
The man had a song of hardship, of chance games becoming too much and owing debts. No longer was he welcome in his abode or his place of work for his weakness and failings, and by chance he had found the Killiks when he had been in a stupor of intoxication to forget his troubles. The ambrosia and nectar had alleviated the sins in his mind and offered peace and purpose.
A third voice was another man's, musical and free. The twin-tail head of green - lekku - a twi'lek. Once a slave of a man wearing a mask with a purple light, but had fled while the master and the others were occupied. The memories still seemed fresh of the refuge found in the Killik mounds. Unwilling and frightened at first, but then... acceptance. And now joy.
There were buzzings and images of people with firearms, shooting at the burrows from a distance. But also people in dark robes using blasters and sabers, damaging what they had built only to leave in a hurry.
Further back in the song, the burrows and mounds were growing and expanding, being built in harmony for the nest. Arriving from starlight, across dark rivers of crystals and jewels, from a glittering world of high mountain white-capped mountain peaks and deep green valleys, where there had been many like them but it was time to leave to find new grounds for the nest. To spread the numbers and find bountiful places to live.
