Meet and Greet (D5, LA)

Corvin shrugged. "It's not a judgement. Just an observation. Guess it leads to some questions, but..." He shrugged.

Esla blinked at Corvin, saying nothing else but showing a hint of bemusement. Before things could sink back to an awkward silence between the two, she turned her attention to the verbal altercation. However, nobody was reaching for their weapons so it wasn't entirely out of hand. She did glance at Corvin and Orgus to see their call, ultimately keeping to where she was.

All in all, she thought that was managed well. She couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if she were in the place of any of her fellow Jedi-to-be.

[Taime Jorel]

Taime had thought about jumping into that mess, but it looked like there were enough people involved. Still, he stood and wandered a little closer, so that he was more within range in case someone insulted Mir again. That sort of talk was bound to put a crimp in more than one person's tail.

[Eir]

Destrus briefly watched the scene with his apprentice unfold as if it was just an inevitable occurance, his attention was elsewhere. "Ah, but are you truly? How often does things happen beyond your control, causing you grief or hurt? How often have you failed where you should have succeeded, hm?" He seemed to find Eir's response very entertaining. "As for corruption - that is in the eye of the beholder?" he spread out his arms slightly as he spoke. "The Sith Emperor has bent the Force to his will and became immortal."

“Learning to accept failure is a skill. We are not each the centre of the galaxy, and our desires and actions are not the only, or even the most important, factors at play. Our actions have effects that reach far beyond us, repercussions that we may never see. It is selfish to think you are immune to failure.” Eir tapped her claws on the side of her cup, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder, too, and yet most people tend to agree when they see either.”

Eir glanced at Corvin, worry flitting across her brow, “what is your interpretation of the creed peace is a lie, Lord Destrus?”

[Faily]

"Oh, to be young and full of such firm ideas again." His tone sounded like it was both complimenting and patronizing her at the same time. "How marvelous."

The purple light flickered briefly to the full-fledged Jedi in the room. "I have several which I would gladly discuss more at another time, but to sate your curiosity now, little one, I would say peace at its core is a lie as it is a forced scenario. In nature, there is hardly concept of peace; prey never know peace as danger lurks behind every corner. In society, even in times of 'peace', there is violence and sin being committed. Even on such peaceful worlds such as Coruscant and Alderaan... indeed, even on the great worlds of Dromund Kaas and Ziost, where criminals are squashed out like insects, there is no peace."

[Mir]

Mir stared at the Sith Lord, his eyes wide open and his tail bristled. To his credit he didn't hiss. Oddly enough, he found himself agreeing with what he said. Coruscant was peaceful but still, sinners seemed to roam free. Why else there would have been so much poverty and suffering. Another thought occurred to him. If crushing criminals did not bring peace- and it had to be as Destrus said, unless he was lying - then ganking all the bad people was not the solution. Question remained, however. What was the solution.

Mir looked down at his paw and sighed inwardly, making a mental note to talk to Eir about her firm ideas. At least she had some.

[Eir]

Eir nodded solemnly, it wasn’t like he was wrong about the problems in the galaxy. “I disagree, Lord Destrus, that peace is not a natural condition. Even in their caution, prey know peace. It is a sad view of the world to think that their lives are nothing but fear. So one-dimensional.” She could have gone on, pointing to the social natures of many species, but as the Darth had pointed out, time was fleeting. “Thank you for answering. I look forward to taking up your offer to see the Sith temple tomorrow.”

[Faily]

"There is no fault in disagreement, child," he mused, "it is from disagreements that we can begin to truly think about these questions. To challenge our way of thinking and view matters in a different light." Again he seemed to slip into an almost grandiose tone and gesture as he spoke.

"Such dutiful and bright students you have, Master Orgus. I should in turn look after my own apprentice, and see that he does not attempt anything foolish after the little verbal scuffle."

[Orgus Din]

Master Orgus nodded. "Thank you, Lord Destrus. The praise belongs entirely to them. We just provide an environment in which they can grow. Safely." His tone was a bit dry.

Byron added with a smile, "I am marking my calendar, Master Din has given us high praise. My mediocrity has paid off."
