Date Night

Ares felt uncomfortable as he walked alongside Ayura. It wasn't the girl's presence that caused it, of course, but rather than the stiffness of his tunic and the tightness of his pants. He looked dapper at least, according to Ayura. Whatever dapper meant. Maybe it meant he looked like a dog?

He smiled at the thought, though he also noticed it elicited an inquisitive glance from his date. "His date". As a Jedi, he never expected to have a date... well, he was a padawan still. He shook his head silently, while he waited for them to get through the line. It was a high end restaurant, apparently, and his new friendly senator offered him the dinner at the restaurant as compensation for his recent efforts. It was a nice change of pace... especially with Ayura in her purple outfit. She was beautiful, but it seemed she made some efforts to be different than usual today. Speaking of which...

"Have you grown? You seem taller." She was almost to his eye level, which was unusual for him. It wasn't unwelcome, but his eyes were constantly looking lower than her own eye level, from past experience. And that line of focus led to some interesting places. Like her neck. It wasn't bare, as it was accentuated with some kind of jewel...Silas would know, of course. It looked great on her bare neck.... focus, Ares, focus! Her lips were moving, and were they a shade darker than usual? Focus!

"Well, I am wearing some heels...you know Jedi Knight Cortess?" Ares nodded, he recalled O'Valaa was her padawan now. "I reviewed some of her logs about her training. Heels help with balance, and balance is important in Makashi. So, here I am, training even now. And they look so cute." Ares' smile widened, as he turned sideways, they finally got to the top of the line. The twi'lek host indicated gracefully to their reserved table. Ares felt awkard, but the lady Moon was adept in navigating this territory, and soon he was looking at something that looked delicious but he had no idea what it was. It didn't matter, though, as only thing mattered.

"How is it being a padawan?" The questions was shot over a bowl of steaming soup. It looked blue to Ares. "It's... more of the same yet not." He smiled awkwardly at her own teasing smile. "I am still learning under Master Jaric, that part is unchanged, but I get more freedom. The investigation into the assassination...while Master is supporting us, we are given much more free reign than I would have as a youngling. The investigation I am conducting with Byron and Tamie is almost all managed by us, with Master Jaric overseeing and helping in some aspects, but it's also an exercise in independance." He blushed, and Amaya smiled in return. "I feel we are only talking about me. How is it going with you? i have heard you have been selected for the trials."

His girlfriend's eyes sparkled at the question. "Yeah! I am so anxious, but I want to succeed too. I have been studying hard! Practicing Makashi, and the othre day I was in the archives and found this datasheet on some recent history that might come up during the trials, not sure if it did for you, I know, I know, you can't tell me what was there, so I'll have to-"

"Are you Ares Pax?" The poor girl wsa interrupted by a burly man, who was literally looked down on the padawan. "It's rude to interrupt a lady, you know." He sounded so mature when he said that! Maybe he should practice this more.

"Yeah, yeah, answer the question." Ares sighed, and simply nodded. "DIE JEDI SCUM!" The man drew a blaster and aimed at Ares ready to blow the Jedi away into the void where souls went. Or something. It iddn't really matter, considering Ars was already moving by that point, hitting the man low in the midsection with a tackle, using the Force to springboard from his position. His opponent flew away and by the time he was in battle stance, his lightsaber was out and ready. Unsurprisingly, a number of opponents arrived, all brandishing different weapons. He heard the chair scrape as Ayura stood up, holding a sword by her side, her form perfect and poised. "KILL THEM!" came the next roar, though it was overshadowed by the shrieks of their audience and the roar of blasters. Ares, unbothered by it all charged ahead, low again, his saber striking forward in a thrust before he spun and disarmed whoever was trying to backstab him. He parried and slashed, a whirling tornado of death. In between strikes, he realized he left Ayura alone, and started a tactical retreat, his front against 3 opponents at aonce, while he was backing. Dodging bolts and parrying blades kept him busy, but he spared a glance back towards his love.

Ayura was disarmed, but far from helpless, as she spun around as an attacker tried to charge her, and her scarf was drawn around the man and yanked with momentum and main strength, resulting in an unfortuante 'urk' and 'thunk' as the man fell to the ground. She drew her saber again, and started on her heel, one foot at a time, keeping any attackers at bay, until her back was to Ares'. Her body was radiating heat, and her sweat mixed with the sweet perfume was an assault to Ares senses that he was unprepared for. "Are you ok-"

"I'm fine, but my dress is ruined and I couldn't finish my soup." Her reply was terse, but she seemed excited. "What say you we end this swiftly and see if we can still get dessert?" Ares let out a low laugh, and withdrew something from his left side...extending yet another lightsaber with a click, as he stood once again in a forward stance. "He has a second sword? Why did anyone tell us he has a second sword!" A cry came from the apparent ringleader, but Ares barely heard as he moved ahead, feinting a charge before settling into a swirling rhythm of slashes both wide and low. Ayuna followed her, parrying and striking where he couldn't reach, as they slowly pushed back their enemies, many of them falling before their attack. The ringleader, though, was a touch above the rest, and his kick caught Ayuan in the stomach. The force of the kick pushed her against Ares, unbalancing him, and both fell. The triumphant bandit made a run for it...until he was tripped by the girl, her scarf catching his leg, and the mean fell on his face.

Ares stood up, glanced around, just as the authorities were arriving. He grabbed the leader, hauling him up, his eyes staring into his. "Who. Sent. You?" He hissed. "I...ugh...yeah...ugh.. I can't tell you..." The initial bravado quickly faded away as the assassin started whimpering. "An onderonian. I don't know where you can find him!" He tried to cut off any further questioning, but the blade poking into his ribs, wielded by Ayura were not relenting. "He mentioned something about a gala on...Emperor Tetris. Or something."

The girl's eyes widened. "Empress Teta!" Ares nodded as he threw the man into the hands of the guards. "Do you know of it?" His girlfriend's smile lit up. "I may....but you still owe me a date, Jedi Soon To Be Knight Pax." Ares laughed, then offered his hand to her. "That I do." He leaned in as he spoke, placing a kiss onto her lips. "Let's continue, shall we?" The answering giggle gave him all the confirmation he needed.
