Acablas is a powerful and complex vergence in the Force, often pulled between both the Light and the Dark. In the Jedi Order, it has been used to test and train. According to the Jedi, the Sith use the vergence in a similar fashion, by testing or punishing potential Sith and powerful apprentices, though in a much more violent fashion and often to a lethal end.
The original discoverers of ancient Acablas predate the Jedi and the Sith. These explorers built the original temple-like structures of the area. Most of these are now destroyed or have fallen into ruin over time, sometimes due to conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.
Both the Jedi and the Sith have built temples and similar structures around the vergence, some on top of ruins or using the base of earlier buildings, so some chambers and parts of their temples are quite elaborate. The resulting layering of new over old has made for some unusual and complicated interiors, with radical jumps in style and condition from chamber to chamber. It is certain that many structures and rooms have been buried or blocked up and lost to the centuries' of neglect.
Aca's Funnel
Built by an ancient group over the cenote at Acablas, Aca's Funnel is an irregularly shaped elliptical cone that serves as a focusing point of the vergence below. Over millenia the elements have shaped the rocky formation, with both water and wind seeping down the funnel and into the cenote.
An old and worn stairway has been carved into a winding stairway that descends into the cave below...
