A Hot Wind (Day 7 Early Morning Camp)

[Silas Myles Pearson]

The hand retreated for a bit only to return a few moments later. Maybe a playful slap just wouldn't do.

"You're right, that is suspicious." Silas replied, rolling away along with his hand. "But it doesn't prove anything either."

"Do you think we shoul go have a look at one of their properties?"

[Zanja]

"Ugh, probably." Zanja grimaced, settling back to a more stable seat after she'd twisted away to dodge the tickling. "Nobody spends all that time talking about how great they are and not actually doing anything, unless they're planning something really nasty and they plan to need all that P.R. Even if they're not the ones taking people, they got to have something else shady under way."

"That's what I was thinking." Silas rolled back onto his back, eyes on the zabrak gril for a few moments. "They should almost be up to somethhing.... The ship they have in port belongs to someone with money, alot of money." He let out a slow breath... " It's been here for two weeks too. That's not a vacation."

[Zanja]

"They're planning to be here for a while, or they wouldn't care if the local people like them," Zanja agreed. "Yeah, this needs looking into." She huffed out an impatient sigh. "If they're snatching people, they probably got a site outside town. Dewbright isn't big enough to hide something like that, if you ask me."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"They have a few from the looks of it." Silas offered helpfully. "I think it would be a bit much to find any information on the sites though." He couldn't just hack satellites or something right?

"So any others ideas on how we can look into them?"

[Zanja]

"Go stick our noses in." Zanja shrugged. That was usually where these things ended up. "Quietly."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Sounds like a plan to me." Silas replied with a grin.

"I'll run it by Byron and a few others, and see what we can find."

[Zanja]

"Okay." Zanja nodded, then flopped backward onto the grass. "Ugh. Why can't dealin' with an anonymous note from an underground org that thinks you owe them be simple."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Um, Di..." Silas looked over at the younger girl. "About nothing you just said sounds simple." He offered his tone a bit teasing.

"Maybe that's why?"

[Zanja]

"I guess," she sighed with a grudging air. She crossed her arms behind her head and squinted up at the almost-painfully-bright sky. "If you got to put it that way."

He couldn't help but laugh at that. "Well, I suppose I could say something about how those ignorant criminals dont know the meaning of simple, if that would help?"

"But, I think I'm too busy not asking why you owe them a favor for that." He finished teasingly.

[Zanja]

"I said they think I owe them." Zanja scowled skyward. "I used to be mixed up in some of their stuff when I was a little kid. Not this kind of kidnapping crap," she added hastily. "I didn't know about... Just lightening some pockets and like that."

She shrugged, though lying on her back with her head pillowed on her arms, the gesture looked more like a subtle stretch. "Anyway, thinking about it now, the boys downtown got more out of us kids than they put in. They must be hoping I didn't figure that out yet, though."

"It that were my pizza money always disappeared to?" He asked in a playful tone, he really didn't recall it ever going missing though. "I think I understand though, you did what you had to." If she hadn't changed she likely wouldn't be here right now.

"Probably true, I can't say I know these guys, but they sound like the type that try to keep people from learning that lesson too." They didn't need their underlings thinking in all likelihood. "Do you think they are going to let this go though? You not exactly doing what they asked?"

[Zanja]

Zanja's defensive twitch brought her half-sitting-up. "Hey! I'd never take stuff from you. Obviously. Bolts for brains. That was forever ago, anyway."

She subsided back onto one elbow. "I got no idea what they'll think. Not much they can do to a Jedi, though, right?"

[Silas Myles Pearson]

That brought a laugh to Silas's lips. "I know, I was just teasing." He smirked. "Call it payback for that comment about dancing partners?" He grinned and rolled onto his side to face her.

"Yeah, it certainly would be unwise for them to try." That could lead them into a whole mess of touble after all.

[Zanja]

"Pfft." Zanja expressed herself ever so articulately on the subject of payback.

"Yeah. Not like the Order goes around playing security force for the whole galaxy or whatever... well, except Byron," she rolled her yellow-gold eyes slightly at this aside. "But start dealing with slavers or going straight after Jedi and you're asking for trouble. Both, that'd be really dumb."

"You sound like a girl who wants to be tickled into agreement." Silas replied with a playful grin, pay back was payback after all.

"Yup, that's the truth." The young man agreed with a serious nod. "Though it's starting to look like your acquaintances seem to want to do both."

[Zanja]

"You sound like a guy who wants to lose a finger," Zanja retorted with a spiky grin.

"Eh." She half-shrugged, since one arm was busy holding her up. "It's a long way from asking me for a good word, to threatening me or something. Maybe they'll realize they pushed too hard and drop it. Though..." she frowned. "They really blew up their transit corridor here. Now I know they're in bed with slavers..."

She trailed off, but the implication was probably obvious. She couldn't exactly ignore that fact if the mysterious group asked her for another favor later, even an innocuous one.

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Oh no, she bites!" A mischevious gleam hit his eyes. "Still it might be worth it."

"Yeah, they probably have. Of course that could also mean that peopel were pushing on them though, bot sxactly that they were in cahoots as it were." His brow knit thoughtfully. "It's a bit hard to tell which without askign them, and well... It's not like you can trust them to be honst about their involvement even if they did..."

"Right?"

[Zanja]

"Yeah." Zanja flopped onto her back again, letting the hot suns hit her full in the face. "I shouldn't be surprised, honestly. Just 'cos somebody'in that world's basically decent to you, doesn't mean they don't have their hands dirty someplace else." Recognizing her own naivety--or willful ignorance, or a bit of both--made her grouchy with herself. "It's not on a level with, oh, suddenly finding out Master Murah has a sideline in deathsticks or something like that."
