On a Mountain Side (Day 5 Mid Afternoon)

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Have you ever been to a Mountain before?" Silas asked, a touch of curiosity in his tome as the speeder came to a halt and deposited the pair ont the foothills of Erkeere Ridge." He'd never been, but one thing he did know was Pixie had traveled quite a bit more then him.

He had a climbing Kit on hand, as well as a few other odds and ends, and there was a contemplative look on his features as he looked over the moountain range. "I wonder if there are any ruins or somethign here." He continued, though the second statement seemd like he was talking to himself.

"Nope," Eir responded cheerfully, looking up at the peaks above, shading her bright eyes. Drawing her datapad out of a pocket, she showed it to Silas, "there's a hiking trail here that the locals made, so we shouldn't have to actually climb any sheer faces, just keep an eye out for the red-and-blue flags."

Trails weren't exploring, but this was his first time in the mountains. "Well, if you want to sttick to the trails I suppose we can." Silas murmured as he glanced at the datapad, and took off in the direction he believe it said the trails were in, eyes open for signs of blue and red.

"Maybe we will get to see some of the wildlife that way."

"You may want to forge your own path, but I'd like to get back in time for the... thing we've been invited to." A new experience was still an new experience, just because someone else had walked a path didn't mean it wasn't an exploration for you. "There are some pretty cool creatures living here," she'd spotted some the day before, but different terrain should mean even more new creatures.

That brought about a soft sigh, and the clatter of stone e against stone, as Silas kicked a rock off their path. "I suppose you're right, we should both get back in time for that thing...." He didn't really like the idea of going, but he probably should regardless.

"You're right about the neat creatures though, I've been to a couple Zoo's of coruscant, but that's really nothing like seeing creatures out here in the wild." The young mans eyes began to scan the area looking for something that looked to eb alive. "Figure there are any lizards out here, Pixie?"

Knowing Silas' penchant for nicknames, Eir sniffed and let the moniker slide, "there'll definitely be lizards, I don't know if we'll be lucky enough to see them. But there should be some awesome birds, too." She pointed to a crevice in the nearby rock face, where some boulders had fallen and cracked, "the lizards will be hiding in places like that, cooling off in the shade."

Ducking down a btit he looked at the crevice, maybe hoping to spot some movement inside. "I suppose you're right, and it's probably wise not to got movign around rocks looking for them either. Could find snakes or other types of venomous creatures instead." Though he wasn't sure what type of creatures those might be, he hadn't studied the lifeforms of Aurtera too much.

"Maybe I should of spent more time finding otu what kind of things live here, then concentrating on what lived on Ilum." He mused as he looked up to continue along the trail

"Does much of anything live on Ilum?" Eir pulled her goggles over her eyes to protect them a little, "oh look," she pointed up into the trees where a bird with impressive plumage was cleaning its feathers.

"Yeah, there are quite a few diffrent types of predators we will have to look out for, both on the surface and in the Ice caves." Silas replied, no reason to keep the information he had close to his chest. "Asharl Panthers and Gorgodons to name a couple"

He fell silent a moment later as he strained to see the bird in the distance. "He's a pretty bright colored fellow, isn't he." The young man said, a note of fascination in his voice.

Eir snapped a photo of the bird with her datapad, and did a quick search, "a bird-of-paradise, cool." After a moment's speculation, "I think I'm still more concerned about the cold," but she filed away Silas' comments for later research. There was no such thing as over-prepared.

"Me too, we'll be dealing with that every day, the predators will likely be a lot rarer." Or at least he hoped, it's not like dabgerous creatures hid around every corner. They hadn't encountered one on their hike yet after all.

"There are a few others beside that though, I can give you my notes of them if you like. I looked up all the information I could on them back at the Temple, but I wasn't able to take the books with me... Course they might have some info about them here."

"That would be awesome," Eir answered, "you can just airdrop them to my datapad anytime." The pair's movements sent something scurrying across their path to disappear into the rocks, faster than Eir was able to identify it. "How'd you get into armour-making, anyway?" she asked abruptly.

The scurring noise caught Silas's attention though, and he temporarily veeered from the trail in a effort to find it. "Ah.... Well, it started when I was young I suppose." He mused as he searched for the source of the news.

"I always liked cartoons, you know they stuff they put on for kids in the morning? Taht developed for a love of comics too. I already liked both when it was found out I was force sensitive." No luck finding the creature he stepped back towards the trail. "So when I started to learn about the different paths we have I picked one where I thought I could be like one. Which meant making cool armor and stuff to match my vision."

A light laugh rolled from his lips. "I suppose it sounds a bit silly, but thats how I discovered I liked making thing, and it's what I do now. Everything from armor to clothes, swords to tools. I enjoy seeing what's in my head come to life as it were, so I do it simple as that."

"Nah, that's totally awesome," Eir paused while Silas made his way back to the trail, then walked on, "I can remember stuff I've seen, but I am so bad at coming up with ideas. It must be cool."

"Well, if you ever want to design somethign toogether, I'd be happy to help." He shot a smile at the younger girl. "I know there are styles I like but they aren't for everyione."

"It's something I learned recently... You have to look a bit at what people want, not just what you want." If he had put a bit more thought into it, maybe he would of won that contest.

[Eir]

Eir's eyebrow crept up at the insightful comment. She'd never really designed anything, and had never considered that aspect, but it had one of those truths that resonated deeply and undeniably. "Now that you mention it," she didn't feel entirely comfortable with asking for help, but he would do a better job, "I was out getting supplies earlier. I've been reading up on armour design, and I think I could make something pretty decent, but, y'know," she trailed off.

"Mmm... Maybe we can compare notes?" He asked after a thoughtful moment, his eyes scannign the horizon. "I've been doing this a while, but from what I hear it's good to look over other people's ideas, and share yours with them as well."

"It's how you grow? If that makes any sense.. No one can come up with all the good ideas on their own." He wasn't sure saying it this way would help any, but it did seem Pizie wasn't super excited about asking him to help. So maybe treating it kinda like a partnership would work better?"

"You're just going to laugh," she deflected, a sort of preemptive self-defense, but she still clicked on her datapad and opened some files. She didn't have any sketches, but rather she'd taken several images that had inspired her, scrawling notes and circles and arrows over the points of interest. The designs she favoured clearly tended towards something more like armour, than clothing, and more subdued and less flashy than what he'd made for Taime.

"T'ame was preening like a peacock yesterday," her voice almost a whisper, conspiratorial and a little teasing, "he loves that jacket you made him, not that I think he would say so."

"Why would I do that?" Silas asked, ducking in so he could see the images a little better. "These are nice after all, some very solid ideas here. You just need to put them all together." Which of course could be a bit harder then finding the ideas. "I think for the most parrt, your Tastes are a lot like, Di's Subduedn ot to flashy." ssi lips curled into a grin. "Not that I don't think both of you could do with dressing up in something cute sometime."

The smile stayed on his lips as he heard about Que. "I am glad he liked it, though to be fair he helped make it, so it's not like it's only my work. I'm curious what you think of it though? Does it suit him?"

A hint of pink crept into Eir's cheeks, and she took her water bottle from her belt and had a sip of water before answering, "it is definitely his style, it gives him a certain... gravitas." She drummed her claws on the water bottle for a moment, and secured it back in place, "I'm not saying I wouldn't wear something cute, I'm only saying I've got nowhere to wear anything cute." Even Eir wasn't immune to the charms of a hundred layers of floaty petticoats and dramatic sleeves that draped to the floor.
