Byron reached out to the Dewbright Defenders and asked for Luc to meet him at the security officer’s office. He wanted to give them a follow up with the Jedi response and reassure them that they were still looking into the disappearances.
He wore the classic Jedi getup as he always did, black robes over dark brown tunic and pants with black boots and a sturdy belt. All he was missing was the actual lightsaber.

Luc was at the station, as was the officer from the other day and a few others. At least there wasn't a mob here this time.
"Jedi," the officer greeted cooly. "We saw the news."

"Glad to see you are well Luc, hopefully this will get things going in a better direction for all involved," he said.

"We certainly hope so... the news put you and your fellow Jedi in a favorable light, it would seem," he said with some warmth.

“We only did what we felt was right and best for all involved. We did nothing of note but act,” he said humbly. “We did find evidence some people ahd been out the Hive of the Killiks… sign of blaster weapon fire. The Killiks explained that there had been a conflict. I am just wondering fi you know of anyone that could have done that?” he offered to Luc or the security officer, lacking accusation in the tone and more just looking for clarity.

"We have not engaged in any hostilities with the Killiks," the officer said firmly.

"I can't quite say the same..." Luc hesitated slightly, but continued (successful Charm from earlier!), "not that our little group have attacked those bugs, but I know some of our members have in frustration gone on their own to 'teach them a lesson', so to speak. I can't faut them too much, to be honest, as these are people who have lost friends and family."

Byron replied evenly, “I see, can you tell me about these individuals that took it upon themselves to dispense justice?”

"People who are going through a difficult time in life, master Jedi. Are you expecting normal folks to sit idly by while their life is falling apart?" Luc said a touch defensive.

“I wasn’t judging them, I was trying to see if I could identify them, I just want to know that they have not gone missing or were badly hurt from the conflict,” he said in reply.
“Defending your home is important.”

"Ah. No no, they haven't gone missing, as far as I know. One was the man you saw yesterday with me." Luc explained now that it didn't seem like they were in trouble.

"Good, glad to know they are well. I believe the killiks were not at fault for the missing people, but it wasn't coincidence either that the people went missing when they did. Someone has been riling up the killiks and using them as a useful target of local anger, while masking their own actions. Someone wanted the killiks to take the blame," he explained.
"The Jedi are looking into who is at fault but I wanted you to know that we do not believe the killiks kidnapped your loved ones, someone else wanted you to think that though. At this time we can't speculate on the real culprits but we are looking into possible leads; when we have something more concrete you will both be the first to know."

Luc frowned at this development, while the officer couldn't help but feel a little bit smug. " See, we've been saying this whole time that b-b-blaming the bugs was j-just jumping to c-co-conclusions."

"What is important is we find the still missing people and make sure those that did this are brought to justice," he added calmly.
"I plan to check around the area where your wife worked, you said it was on the outskirts of the city, correct?" he said to Luc.

"Yes," he replied, a bit mournfully as today hadn't given him the answers he had hoped for. "At the Sea Ward research facility. It's on the eastern part of Dewbright."

"I will find something, stay hopeful," Byron responded.
"Despair is the enemy."

Luc gave a small smile. "I will try, master Jedi. Where there's light there's hope - as we say on Auratera."
