[Day 4 - ME] Straight Buggin'

Byron sat on the edge of a pier with a bag of what he was told were spicy poppers a mixture of fried tentacled fish bits and a spicy crunchy bug mixture. It as surprisingly delicious coated in spicy salt and he was already plowing through his second bag. He reflected on the previous encounter and was pleased with the outcome even if he felt some of his allies were a little less than… Jedi like.

A thought that unnerved so he pushed it aside and enjoyed the savory crunchy and squishy goodness of the spicy poppers as he watched the sea and the myriad of speeders and water craft making their way around the waters.

"Hey Byron. I grabbed a bag of spicy pickled bugs to go, from the Ithorians. Would you like some? It's probably getting close to first supper." She gave him a friendly smile and sat down.

Her gaze was drawn to the creatures swimming in the harbour, or crawling around the posts of the pier. "This planet is just teeming with life!"

“It is an interesting place,” he said holding his bag of spicy poppers.

“I doubt the animals were the reasons for us coming heer, more likely that’s the vergence we will probably focus on. Though maybe we are here to keep the the locals from trying to massacre the killiks. Or maybe they do just want us to swim with the fishes,” he finished.

“But I won’t turn down spicy whatever that is.”

She laughed and offered him the bag, after grabbing one for herself. "They're pretty more-ish so be prepared."

Looking down into the water she kicked her feet gently. "You know I had a vision about this planet Byron. I think the force was telling me something about the delicate balance here. It was pretty vivid. I reached out my hand toward the surface, and the shadow of my hand stained the light and started to spread." She shook her tendrils. "I think you're right about the vergence. I also think we're meant to help out with the Killiks situation. Maybe I should ask the force for guidance?"

“The Force is always listening, so that would be wise to do. I know we were meant to help the Killiks, I only hope that our aid ends with a peaceful resolution and not violence. The role of the Sith in all this has to be understood as well. They are not here by accident, the Force meant for us to come into conflict.”

“Perhaps this is a chance to find some small understanding. What happened in the restaurant was only a prelude to future war, but maybe we can push that back if we find a way to put faces on the enemies we have created in our minds.”

"You know you can be so stubborn sometimes Byron." She leaned over and patted his shoulder. "This isn't one of those times. I think you're right, and you've really thought deeply about this." Zizzy leaned back, a spicy bug in her hand. "First supper."

She took a bite and chewed before continuing. "There must be a way to talk to the hive mind. Maybe Camlen knows something about it, he says he likes Xenobiology. Oh yeah, Camlen! He's the gatekeeper of the holocron we found. He finally popped out to say hi this morning."

Her expression soured a bit as she thought about the Sith. "Those Sith kids were just mean, but maybe that's all they know. How do we protect people from that? Does showing the Sith there's a better way to be even work? I hope so. Anyway, let's see if the Force wants to show me anything." Zizzy finished her bug then crossed her legs and calmed her thoughts. The force was feeling really talkative today.

“I just know what is right and what is wrong,” he said honestly.

“In time a solution will present itself,” he responded and then nodded when she tapped into the Force.

The view of the real world faded, giving way to light and warmth. And yet... there was a darkness. The shadow of a looming figure towering over her. An outstretched shadowy hand reached forth and white hair slipped through its fingertips.

A brief flash of purple light, and then it was gone.

... And everything became normal again.

Zizzy came back to reality and blinked a few times. "Well, that was... Interesting. There was a tall shadowy figure. It reached forward and white hair slipped through its fingers. There was a purple flash and then it was gone."

She looked at Byron curiously. "I wonder what it means?"

“Patience, such things are hard to understand at first but they reveal themselves in time. I suppose I should ask, how did you feel along with what you saw?” he responded.

"Warm, comfortable. I didn't feel fear." She kicked her feet, looking down at the fishes. "Yeah, they usually become clear with time. That purple flash must mean something. You know, the only person I can think of with white hair is Eir."

“I have no idea what it could mean but it was your vision, so it probably has more meaning for you than me,” he replied.

“So not so ominous just mysterious but positive, could be tied to the vergence or events around the vergence.”

She nodded firmly. "It's the second vision I've had that relates to the vergence. Obviously we're going there as part of the tests, or else why bring us here? Huh. I wonder if that's why the Sith are here too?"

"It seems the most likely reason, this is an independent world so their presence here does not break the treaty. Good place to test young Force users, of course our teachers must have suspected it was possible for us to come into contact with the Sith on this world but figured the opportunity was worth the risk of conflict," he said thoughtfully.

"Well now they're back we'd have to meet them some time. It makes sense to do it now. This way the Masters can see how we deal with the experience." She sighed. "It makes sense, but I'm concerned about their effect on Mir. You heard him earlier Byron. That was...dark."

“I don’t think that was just the encounter with the Sith, he tends to be fairly negative, it could be just part of his upbringing before his time with the Order. I have noticed an influx of young trainees with less than apt mindsets for the Jedi of way of life,” he said sadly.

“But yes it was dark, as if spoken from experience or life experiences of others around him. Surely the Masters must know about this and if not they will, that kind of action can have far reaching effects through the Force.”

Byron finished with, “He seems to be close to Eir, who is doing no favors for the boy by just coddling him. I understand friendship but if your friend walks or even talks a dark path then it behooves us to intervene before that turns worse.”

"Well let's keep an eye on him, and see if we can turn things around. Maybe this is part of our training too Byron?"

She reached into the rapidly lightening bag and picked out another bug. It was deliciously spicy.

"So, what are you planning to do with the Sith? I mean, you must have a plan."

“I want to see if she is really just a horrible bully or if she is just doing what she believes is expected of her. Depending on how we decide to handle the situation with the killiks and the locals I may involve her, maybe not. But there is a chance for at least attempting to put a face to an enemy which may make it more difficult for her to simply rite off all Jedi,” he responded.

“As I read once, even a single seed can start a forest. I don’t have those lofty of hopes but she does seem influential among her peers, which is important.”
