They hadn't managed the time on the ship to get Valee's trainign Saber back together, time was like that occasionally though. Still they had some time now, and so they might as well get it done. Parts in hand, as long as his tools Silas stood across from Valee at the work bench.
"Okay, just do what I tell you okay?"
He offered as he began the work on the trainign saber, this would be good practice, right?

"Okay, you're the boss!" O'vala exclaimed with a smile. There was no way this was going to take too long. Something new like this was super exciting too.

"Okay!" He replied rather excited to get to try a new kind of construction. "We start simply, by taking it all the way apart so we can get to all the parts that are broken on the inside." Also so he'd get to see the neat crystal, even if it was only a trainign saber crystal it was still a lightsaber crystal.

"Are we not just building a brand new one then? Seems like a lot of trouble," O'vala murmured.

"Well, the challenge is to fix this one." Silas replied with a smile. "So you can learn about how hard it is to fix something once it's been destroyed. Compared to how easy it is to destroy."
There was a shirt pause. "Master Ogrus said it was an important lesson for us jedi."

"Did you talk to him about this or did you learn that another time?"

"The second part, mostly. Your saber came up while we were chatting about this kind of stuff."
He paused thoughtfully. "Though we were talking more about people then items at the time."

"Huh. Fixing people." O'vala didn't really think too hard on it, though she probably should have. "Sounds hard."

"Ah, fixing relationships." Silas clarified with a smile. "Not fixing people. That's something that Master Murah would know about."

"Oh." Now it was more awkward! If only O'vala knew that she'd have to deal with that later. "Maybe I can learn how to fix people too like her. But it sounds really hard."

He nodded. "It is a lot of work, but Master Murah is probably the best person to ask about it " She was pretty smart about stuff like that after.

"I don't really get how people work, though. Like inside." O'vala poked her belly, like she was prone to.

"Me either." Silas offered with a shrug. "I'm a lot better with machines, their insides make a lot more sense to me."
"No multiple stomachs or things like that."

"What about multiple engines? Those are kind of like stomachs. Fuel is like food! Or is food like fuel?"

"Engines make sense though, stomachs are all squishy and weird colored." Silas affirmed with a nod.
"Still fuel and food are kind of similar."

"They both keep us going, huh?" O'vala peered at the lightsaber. "I guess you could say that the crystal 'fuels' the lightsaber too. But it's not like food, it doesn't get used up." She looked up at Silas and smiled. "Maybe it's the heart of the lightsaber."
She then shook her head. "Uh, but then you can turn it off."

"Aye, and most things don't respond well when you turn off their hearts." Silas replied with a grin. "Really though, Lightsabers have a power cell, much like this trainign saber." He nudged at the part that served as the power cell.
"The crystal is more like... A focus?" He paused thoughtfully trying to remember what he had been taught. "So I suppose you cna call it the brain of the llightsaber."

"Don't you turn off the power cell though?" O'vala poked the power cell too. "Wait, maybe you don't turn off the crystal ever. I don't know."
The miralian crossed her arms. "I guess it's hard to make perfect analogies between objects and people."

"I'd say when it's off it's dormant?" There was a small pause as he thought. "Kinda like when you are sleeping?" It made as much sense as anything.
"You're right though machines and people are pretty different." He grinned. "Which I think is what I was saying in the first place."

"I guess you're right. You win this time, Silas," O'vala declared before sticking out her tongue. She then put her hands on her hip and said, "Oh, but I got distracted! What do I need to do?"
