Byron noted that was odd behavior for creatures that seem territorial to move into cities unless threatened by something else. “Do you have an idea how many people have gone missing recently that are unexplained or you believe is done by the killiks?” he asked.

"Over a dozen, I think, but we don't have the exact numbers. Only the next of kin are allowed by law to make missing-reports public here," Luc said with a sigh as if it was an obstacle he had encountered before.

“I see, well I want you to know that the Jedi are pledged to help you and yours and we will find a solution and Force willing bring your loved ones back to you if able. We only ask that you have patience and give us time to act. The last thing we want is violence, and an angry mob storming the killik hives will leave a lot of people hurt on both sides, they are dangerous and intelligent, more so when they feel threatened,” he said calmly.

“I know emotions are high, but we must remain calm. Can you do that for me Luc, together we can resolve this situation but it looks like these people rely on your leadership. They must respect you and what you are going through.”

Byron offered his case as best he could, it was convincing but still you could not reach everyone… especially in times of distress.

The Defenders of Dewbright listened with interest, and Luc spoke. "Very well, on behalf of the Defenders of Dewbright, we will not seek any conflict with the Killiks for the duration of your stay here as we put our faith in the Jedi you represent to find a solution to this problem. Especially since our own have failed us." He cast a sour look to the police officer who had exited from his office during the conversation to hear it all.

OOC: Threat causes some ruffled feathers with the local law enforcement, which can make it more difficult in the future to cooperate with them.

Byron nodded he glanced at the officer and although he felt for the man, ultimately keeping the people from doing something stupid was first and foremost. He offered Luc his contact info in case anything else happened and then made his exit. The situation was certainly complicated but not beyond the ability of a Jedi.
