The Crystal Caves of Ilum are where most Jedi get the main focusing crystal for their lightsabers. It is also the site of a major Force vergeance. This makes it perhaps the most sacred site in the galaxy for the Jedi Order.

As such, the entrance to the Crystal Caves is never unguarded, even when ice seals the main chambers shut. There are always two Jedi guardians, dressed in full battle armor, standing silent and still in front of the ornate door leading to the caverns. They are rotated occasionally, with equally outfitted and silent guards coming to relieve them, exchanging a brief but opaque ritual as they do so.

Attempting to enter the caves without permission is not recommended.
