Visions of the Future (D10 MA+)

Everyone has gathered their crystals and constructed their lightsabers. Now, following tradition, you join together in the central cavern of the Crystal Caves to meditate.

As you close your eyes, and focus on your breathing, you find that your mind slips very easily into meditation. The awareness of your companions grows stronger. And then there is a shifting, a sense of movement, of being in a different place. Your eyes open.

You are on Coruscant.

Something is wrong, though. The smell of smoke is in the air, an unpleasant acidic sort of smoke. People all around are in a state of panic, running and screaming. A terrible fierce wind whips all around. And then, even as you watch, a starfighter with Sith markings zooms low overhead, lasers firing at some unknown target.

It seems that the Sith have come to Coruscant as well.

This leads to the events here and here. Roleplay for entering your vision, and what you see when you all arrive on Coruscant may be done in this thread.

Ares breath was ragged as it came in quick, short, violent bursts. Meditation was never his strong suit. What he was seeing was....

No. Not again. He won't lose anyone.

He knew what he had to do, his body outside of the vision was sweating even in the cold of Ilum, but he paid no heed to that. Nothing was more important than this.

This was new to Silas, visions this vivid, it was the type of thing future cop usually saw, not what he experienced. It was breathtaking in a way, the change of atmosphere, the reality of it it.

This was not the time to reveal in that though, this was the time to act. So he stepped forward, lookign towards the others gathered around him. "What now?"

Esla joined the others and sat cross-legged with her hands together as she concentrated on her meditation. She wasn't sure what to focus on but perhaps focused on thinking about putting her concerns to rest. It seemed she had finished through the hardest parts of her training?

Or so she thought, unrest and chaos filled her mind. Her struggled with herself to oust these emotions out, scarcely able to fathom their source. Eventually, she opened her eyes to end her meditation and found herself on Coruscant. That unrest and chaos she felt earlier were real and in the Sith, or perhaps they materialized from those feelings alone? She wasn't sure but she had to do something now.

The meditation was easy enough, she did this every day. It felt good to be surrounded by her peers on this of all days. She could feel the force surrounding them. The crystal in her lightsaber. The...

...scent of smoke. The sounds of panic. Her eyes snapped open and she stood in one smooth motion, lightsaber in hand. As the smoke swirled in the backwash from the Sith fighter she could see that this was no ordinary vision. They were all here.

It seemed a Sith attack had been launched on Coruscant, but was this now, the future, or just a possibility. It didn't really matter. Her tendrils could perceive two main strike forces.

"The Temple and the Senate. That's where they're going."

He sat down, feeling the excitement pulsing through the others. But as he entered the meditation, the excitement changed to fear. Centering in himself, he opened his eyes. There was an attack on Coruscant. He knew where he had been, but this was where he was now. Perhaps this was a test in itself.

He rose and moved towards the civilians. He knew his skills and this looked like the best use of them.

O'vala looked around. Chaos. Not a lot of time to think. And one thing overshadowed much of her judgment: regret.

Avilea? Is she safe?

"I'm going to the temple. It must stand, but so must the people." She pointed out towards the crowds. "We'll have to split up. Go, quickly!"

He looked at the others, taking them all in for a moment. "Then we split up." He said after a moment. "Half of us to each place, I suppose the only real question is who goes where."

"Valee is going to thhe temple... Any other volunteers?"

And once they had gone off, and faced the Sith, the visions gradually faded. Everyone opened their eyes to find that they were back in the caves. Their newly constructed lightsabers were still in their hands.

As everyone looked around, it was clear that everyone remembered the vision they'd just had. Was it real? Something yet to come? Or just a strange shared vision, bonding them together?

Only time would tell.

(you may resume roleplay; feel free to discuss what it all means!)

Zizzy looked around the group as they returned to reality. It seemed they had all survived the experience. "Is everyone okay? That was more intense than any vision I've experienced before."

"That can't be it." O'vala looked around at the others. "What's happening?" She looked around. "Is it happening right now? Did we do something there?"

"I'm fine." Silas offered with a smile towards Zizzy. "I think we all are." At O'vala's question he turned towards her. "I don't think so, I think it was a vision of when the Sith break the peace treaty with the Republic." It was the only thing that made sense. And it just couldn't be happening now. Right?

"I think Meli would know more about thsi then me though."

"We experienced a possible event, no more and no less," Byron said with a nod.

"The Force was with us."

Esla fluttered her eyes open as they came too and was rather bemused at what happened just now. It was like a vergence but one they all shared together, was that possible? It also seemed so much more vivid than her experience in the cave, which was more fast moving, albeit a deeper emotional experience. If what happened was indeed reality, she would not doubt it. She was more sure about it than the Sith ever believing in peace.

Visions aside, she smiled in relief upon seeing everyone here and unharmed.

β€œI would say a possible future, I am no seer but everything I have studied on precognition alludes to multiple possible futures. Seeing the future only gives one a glimpse of what could occur and it can be difficult to discern if that future is with or without our interference,” he responded to Silas trying to make sense of the vision.

β€œIt could be a warning or simply a reaffirmation of our role as defenders and reinforced that with the most obvious enemy we have available, the Sith Empire. We should not consider this as confirmation that the Peace is shattered.”

"I'm not saying the peace is shattered, I'm saying we should prepare for when it's going to be." Silas fell silent for a moment. "We all already have experience with what the Sith do under the guise of peace, we saw it in Lord Destrus' actions on Auratera. Kidnapping the local populace for his experiments."

"If that vision showed one thing, it was that we were caught unawares, and that cost potentially billion of lives. If that's even an echo of a possibility, we can't stand idly by."

"I didn't say do nothing but we have to be mindful, preparing for war can lead to war" he said calmly.

"The Sith will come, it is inevitable, their nature dictates they seek conflict and consider us their greatest threat. History has proven that any Peace with the Sith is only a prelude to more war. My only concern is that we do not turn prevention or preparation into escalation and preemptive strikes."

"We should confer with the Masters."

"When the force shows us visions it is never of what will be. It is usually just hints of what may come to pass, although this was more intense than normal." She looked around at the other students.

"We must be mindful not to overreact. I think the idea of possible futures is a good way to interpret what we just experienced. The Sith may believe that peace is a lie, but we are Jedi, we are peacekeepers. Perhaps the force was reminding us of what might happen if we lose sight of that."
