During the war with the Sith, Fray Landing Base was bustling and full, prepared for the worst case scenario of a Sith invasion. Now, with that threat over, at least for the moment, manpower has been drawn down, secrecy substituting for security. Now, in mostly serves as the safest landing spot on the western shelf. Visitors to Ilum land here, and then take cold-modified speeders to their destination.
The cold makes even basic maintenance a challenge, especially with a skeleton crew. Everything is more or less functional, but the base shows some visible signs of wear and tear, making the metal structure look much like one of the ruins that can be found dotting parts of the planet.
The few soldiers on the base tend to be both friendly and a bit stir-crazy. They may be happy to chat, or to just play Pazaak with some different company for once.
