Distractions (Day 8 Mid afternoon, Garage)

by Silas Myles Pearson
Silas needed a distraction, his mind kept wandering over events of earlier in the day, a certain taste, a certain softness, and he really just coulsn't focus. So picking up the last bits of his supplies he headed to the garage, a project usually helped him clear his head. Setting up all his things on the work bench he got started on a new shield.
Though it appeared it wouldn't do him much good, as it seemed to be prceding poorly, still maybe he could learn somethign from it?

"Whatchu working on?" O'vala strode up and peered at the work bench. "Armor? Or, hm, a shield? Seems kind of on the smaller side. Costume?"
The miralian stretched. "What was up with that stuff earlier! There was so much going on, I dunno. Almost feels kind of boring now to just stand around back at the base."

"Ah, a shield." Silas offered frowning down at it. "It's really not going all to well honestly." Which happens from time to time, but it was still disappointing.
"Earlier? You mean with Byron?" He shook his head. "Honestly I don't know." He seemed a lot more irritable and pushy them usual.

"Oh? I feel like that's a first." O'vala poked at the prototype. "What do you do then?"
She shrugged. "Naw, I was thinking all the tech stuff and the droids. But come to think of it, that was kind of weird!"

"Well, I'm not sure I messed up, so I finish it." Silas replied. "I mean either way I can learn something from it."
"Oh, that? It seemed to be automated defense systems." He glanced over at Valee. "How are you feeling anyways? You seemed to get clobbered pretty good back there."

"If you say so."
O'vala rubbed her head. "I mean, it kind of hurt, but parrying helped out a lot!"

"Well, I'm glad." Silas replied with a warm smile. "That was a bit of a mess we were in there for a bit." More then he had hoped for.

"Yeah, I guess it was only for a bit." O'vala put her hands on her hip. "Is that what it's going to be like for the rest of our lives?" She didn't seem too bothered by the idea, at least.

"Well, if we use the masters for example?" He pasued thoughtfully. "I'd say it will be for about half of us? Maybe a bit less, I suppose a lot depends on if the war with the Sith starts up anytime soon." He looked Valee over for a moment. "I take it you kind of liked it?"
"The battle that is."

O'vala nodded. "You got that right. Got me real excited, and not like, well," the girl trailed off. She hadn't really talked about that incident with that dark lord who couldn't hit with his lightning with anyone.

"Like?" He glanced up at Valee. "That phone call of yours isn't still bothering you is it?" It was the only thing he could really thing of off the top of his head. "Still, glad to see you had some fun. I know all the book work stuff isn't really your thing after all, and a lot of exploring can be stuff like that."

O'vala shook her head. "No, something else. I dunno. Thanks for reminding me about the call," she grumbled. She lightened up quickly though and smiled at him. "I do need to get better at the whole book stuff though. Can't be a Jedi just with the fighting."

"Ah, sorry." He couldnt think of anything else she would of been talking about though. "Do you want to talk about that other thing bothering you?"
He did brighten a bit about that. "I can lend you some texts sometime if you like."

"I dunno." O'vala rubbed the back of her head. "There was, uh, an encounter I guess you could call it. Before we left, before we came here. I almost got electrocuted."

"That sounds bad." Electrocution tended to be bad, right? "Can I ask how it happened?" There had to be a story there.

"Well, I kind of ran off in the middle of the night. Ran into some Sith lord, I think. Judging by his mask." Who was that guy? "I was kind of a jerk to him, well he deserved it. Anyways, he shot lighting at me but missed and I made a tactical withdrawal."

"Why were you going running off in the middle of the night?" That seemed to be a strange thing for Valee to do. "A sith Lord, was it Lord Destrus?" That was the only name he coudl think of at least. "It was probably wise you ran away, if it was Lord Destrus he makes peoples into zombies. I wouldn't want you to end up a zombie Valee."

O'vala nodded along. "That must be what he meant by bringing people back to life then. Woah." The miralian looked around. "Uh, should we let the masters know?"

"That you talked to him? Probably." Silas replied with a nod. "Especially is he confessed to his crimes when you were talking, that might be evidence they can bring up against him in the future." Of course Silas wasn't a expert on this type of thing, but it seemed wise.

"I guess." O'vala shrugged. "I guess that's a relief though. I thought he was like reading my mind about my sister being dead. Turns out he was just some creep with zombies, huh?"
