In Need of Assistance? (Day 8 MM, Maintenance)

[Silas Myles Pearson]

Silas chuckled softly as she snorted. "Really comfortable right?"

"Well, not so much a jedi yet, I'm still a trainee." Though maybe bot for long. "You say that like there is something bad about crying in front of a Jedi, Jes? Silas asked as much as stated. "I mean I won't judge you for it, or anything like that, if that's what you're thinking. Everyone cries from time to time."

"Yeah, I don't know." She wiped her eyes again. "You guys are heroes of the Republic. It's like crying in front of your commander or... or Captain Alderaan, or something."

She sighed, managing a smile up at the grate. "It's just... this place sucks. Like, a lot. A lot a lot."

"Well if it helps, I'm not a hero." Silas replied with a smile. "Just a teen who is a bit nervous about what the future might hold, awkwardly talking to a girl through a grate." That sounded pretty ridiculous to him.

He'd nod at that. "Anything in particular? Or is it just a bit of everything?" I mean I could name a half dozen depressing things off the top of my head. But yours may be a bit different then mine."

That made her laugh. "Yeah, well, I'm talking to a guy in a grate. That seems pretty weird, too."

She lay back on the bunk, putting her legs down, clasping her hands behind her head. "I don't know. It's just... this place. It's so far away from everything. There's all these people around, but I don't really know them. And it's always cold..." She sighed. "It feels so... so lonely here. Like... I get why it's important to have a base here, but we hardly ever see anyone. Sometimes you forget the rest of the galaxy is still out there."

"Well, at least you aren't covered in grease." Silas teased. "But you know, chatting through a grate is great and all, but I'm really starting to think we could get together and actually talk sometime? Over Kaf or something, when I don't feel like a voyeur?

He nodded, banging his head against a pipe in the process. "Ow! Kriff! I think I can understand that, though. Out here on the edge of the galaxy and so far from everything." He smiled slightly. "It probably doesn't help that most of the people here seem to be gruff older gentlemen. I bet you don't have many people your age to talk to."

Jes laughed, first at the joke, then at the minor head injury. "Awww. Hey, be careful in there, mystery voice Silas." She said.

"Sure, kaf sounds great." She sighed. "Don't get me wrong, there's lots of other people my age. I think I'm the youngest, but not by much..." Another sigh. "It's just... I think they feel it too. I don't know. Maybe I'm projecting. I just... feel so alone, here." She closed her eyes.

"I'll try." He murmured, as he tried to reach a hand up to rub at his head.

"I'll just warn you I take mine with a good amount if cream and sugar. Nothing major I just didn't want to offend your military sensibilities. But tonight or tomorrow sound good?"

"But I think you're right a little bit, and not just projecting. Being out here for a extended amount of time must be hard.... How much longer do you have?"

"Yeah, okay." Jes nodded. "Ummm... what do you look like?" She smirked up at the vent.

She groaned. "I just started. Almost two more years. Then, hopefully, I'll get to pick my next assignment. Maybe Tattooine. Or Ryloth. Definitely somewhere warmer. Or maybe Coruscant. See more people..." She trailed off again.

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"About one point eight meters, red hair, thin enough to crawl through ducts." It was probably hard for her to see up into the vent after all.

"Coruscant isn't too bad if you like crowds, and aren't a nature lover. I can't comment on the other two... Though you might want to avoid someplace with too much sand. Maybe pick someplace with beaches?"

Jes laughed softly. "I suppose I could have guessed that last one."

She sighed again, less melancholy than the previous ones. "Someplace with beaches, sure. That sounds good, too. I'll do my research, I guess."

It was good to hear her laughing, and it brought a soft smile to the young mans lips.

"Well, you have the time for it at least." She didnt seem to be doing anything now. "Heck, I'd even offer to send pictures of some of the places I visit if you think that might help."

"Maybe." She said.

Then, "Thanks, Silas. I guess it's good to remember that the rest of the galaxy's still out there. Even if most of it doesn't show up in the vent above my bunk." Jes frowned. "Maybe I'll throw a towel over it, though. I'm not always dressed in here, after all."

"Might, be a good idea. I probably won't be up here again, but you never know when someone might be." He grinned. "You probably dont want to give them a unexpected show."

"But, I should be getting back to work. " There was a small pause. "It was nice chatting with you, Jes. I'll talk to you later."

[Hatoful GM]

Again, soft laughter. "No, I probably don't." Jes looked up towards the vent. "See you later, Silas."

With a deep breath, she hopped down from her bunk. He could hear her moving around down below. Maybe she was looking up info on beaches.

"Later, Jes." And it was time to get back to work. Rolling his shoulders Silas moved forward. This had been a unexpected delay, and he'd need to double time it to get done.

On the bright side, the work wasn't too hard to finish. Once he'd settled into a rhythm, Silas found he could get them done pretty quickly. Also, there were no more crying girls to distract him.

Which was probably a good thing. Once he was finished, Silas made his way back and climbed down the ladder. He was sure the others had some other work to be done, so he didn't exactly to see them. But he did look around for them anyways.

It was back in the maintenance office that he managed to find them. They were resting at the moment, but they looked pretty beat up; it was clear that they'd been working. The office itself looked kinda like them; a bit rough and overused, but functional.

"Hey, Jedi." Riggs greeted him cheerfully enough. "You get it done?"

Silas glanced around, looking for a free seat to flop into, it was hot work up in the ducts after all. "Yeah, it's all done." He replied with a wary smile.

"You won't have to be worried about being super cold in here for a little while at least."

There was one.

Riggs grinned. "Alright. Well done, kid." A somewhat subdued chorus of cheers greeted that.

Reaching behind him, he brought out a medium-sized box. "I figured you would. Went through the trouble of getting this put together." He handed it to Silas.
