“Last place I was at had to clear out some… what did Silas call them, zom-bies? Punched some Black Sun thugs, fought a Sith… just a normal week for me.”

Kedge shrugged. "Check out the ruins, then. Jedi can do that, right? Even if we're not authorized to."

Kedge looked as Esla, frowning. "I don't know about never; maybe one or two has found their way here sometime. But not in any sort of numbers, and if a Sith ship tried to land, we'd blow it out of the sky."

Esla gave a slow relieved nod at that. Although, now begs the question where did the Sith get their lightsaber crystals? The Jedi and Sith must have existed alongside without them constantly fighting over Ilum, at least.

Deveraux shivered. "I saw a Sith on Tattooine once. Cut a unit to pieces. Scary bastards."

She smirked. "On the other hand, at least it was warm there."

“They are dangerous, and I would never recommend soldiers face them in combat; but what is what we train for. You were twice lucky then, for it being warm and surviving an encounter with the Sith,” he said honestly.

“Maybe we could accompany one of your patrols, experience the world as you do?”

Ross shrugged. "Sure, why not. I could send you a patrol schedule." He chuckled. "I could even let you know when we're going." He waved a hand. "I mean, we're not all on the same patrol. But, you know what I mean. When one or more of us is going."

He shrugged. "It's usually not that interesting. But hey, maybe it's worth a try once. And we sure wouldn't mind. I bet the commander would dig it, too." He took another long drink from his bottle.

"Definitely! Count me in. It'll be nice to explore and get to know you all." She gave them a smile which became a little laugh. "Let's be honest, we'll probably make it more interesting for all you just by being there."

“Yeah, sounds good,” Zanja agreed. “It’s pretty out there in a weird way, but I’m guessing it’s not a great idea to go wandering around alone. You lot must know the place pretty well, though.”

Ross sighed. "I don't know. We know it as well as anyone, except maybe the Jedi over in the temple. But it's just so big, and there's so many mysteries. In this season, the ice actually melts a bit during the day, and then freezes at night, so things look a bit different the next day." He shook his head. "It's a weird place."

"It's hard to explain." Kedge said. "But the place just feels weird. Like... I don't know. You're all alone. But at the same time, you're not." He shrugged. "Maybe you'll see what I'm talking about after you've been here a day or two."

Esla gave a defensive shake of her head at that and went back to take a few sips from her fizzy drink. Meeting the Sith on unaligned or neutral ground was one thing, meeting Sith on their turf was another matter altogether. Especially, when one of their own had joined them apparently? They could be capable of anything.

"You mean like something's watching you? Or just all the snow makes people crazy?" Zanja slurped her own juice drink and then accepted the deck of cards from the player next to her. She shuffled with practiced, if not fancy, technique.

"I get it, though, Esla. It's bad enough when you know that lot are around so you can watch your back. I wouldn't want someone like that Destrus sneaking up on me out of the snow."

Kedge shrugged. "I don't know. Either. Both. It's just so... isolated here. It starts to get to you after a while."

Ross shook his head, chuckling. "Like I said, Kedge has been here the longest. It's not so bad, really." Still, his expression was a little unsettled. He settled it by cracking open another bottle.

“Being near any powerful vergence of the Force would be unsettling even for those that lack Force sensitivity. The Force in large quantities can be powerful, if that makes sense. Play with the mind, even affect the physiology of the wild life,” he said warmly.

“You are all to be commended for your work out here, I know I appreciate it and I am sure the Jedi Order does as well. Sadly I don’t see that increasing your hazard pay,” He finished with a joke.

“But if we cross paths in the future, I’ll set you up some drinks. Deal?”

Esla nodded soundly at Zanja, getting the bit of what she was concerned about. It was plenty hard with the trials and growing up into a Jedi already. She let out a small sigh and picked up the cards half-hearted, looking for a distraction in potentially another round of hands.
