Taime looked over Silas's shoulder and something in the book somehow looked familiar. It sparked something in his mind but he wasn't sure what.

"What...what if its alive? We might injure it by cutting into it."

[Faily]

If it was alive, then that could be a possibility. A mere mechanical object could be fixed, but if it was somehow sentient then it might be a more complicated matter. Taime knew from his lessons that holocrons were difficult to repair once damaged or broken... (Threats activated for a Setback on future roll)

"We should be careful. If its something alive or if its a holocron, we could damage it by trying to remove it."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"You're right, and I can feel something of a presence from it. Almost like a person." Silas looked towards the Corporal.

"Corporal, could you keep your people from fully releasing the object? I think we might want to finish freeing it a little more gently."

[Faily]

"Uh, sure. Whatever you say, master jedi. We could thaw it out after removing some of the ice I guess?"

[Esla Tor]

Esla peered curiously at the object in the ice and found herself more puzzled than enlightened. She stepped away with a faint frown.

"That sounds perfect." Silas replied with a broad smile. "And please, feel free to call me Silas, Corporal."

"Is there anyway we can help out, though? We shouldn't leave all the work to you and your crew."

[Eir]

Eir stepped back as well. Her arms folded around her chest were not the posture of composure that she had left Coruscant with, but one of defense.

He looked over at Eir. Something was up, but he figured it'd be better discussed in private. He nodded along with Silas as he made that mental note to himself. "Yes, if there is some way we can help, we'd be happy to."

[Faily]

"Hmm..." Raz crossed her arms. "I dunno, how'bout you Jedi folks handle it? We don't want to accidentally damage the object, and you guys seem to understand more of this thing. That is, if you kids know your way around the tools, I take it?" she looked between the kids and the tools.

OOC: Raz and the other soldiers can take a shot at it. Or you can do it yourselves. Mechanics (Intellect) at Average with one Setback from the Threats (as you are really worried about damaging the object). The workbench and tools give you a total of 2 Boosts, and you may cooperate on the roll.

"Hey, Pixie want to give me a hand with this?" Silas asked, offering a smile to the young girl. She knew her way around these tools after all. They should be able to get this done pretty easily.

[Eir]

“All right,” the miniature trainee approached the strange construct again, “where do you think we should start?”

[Silas Myles Pearson]

Silas smiled at Eir. "Well if we start over here, I think we can kinda let most if it just slide out." Silas suggested as they got to work.

It took a while, but the careful work of the group managed to extract the star-shaped box from the ice without any damage to it from the tools or from melting it too fast.

Sitting on a towel infront of them, there was now no mistaking it's connection to the Force as it seemed suddenly more vibrant and alive(?) by their presence, as if their own strength in the Force was making it active.

Perhaps that was the way to activate it fully?

Once the process of extracting it was done, Esla inched a little closer to take a look. Perhaps a buried Jedi artifact? She glanced to the others curiously as to what they thought could be their next move. Now that it wasn't dampened by the ice, it was active.

"What do you think it's for?" She asked curiously, wondering if it was a treasure or something just waiting to unleash a curse.

[Eir]

Eir was exceptionally wary of the emanations coming from the device, "we should take it to the Temple."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"Well, why don't we bring it to the masters first." Silas suggested, the temple really wasnt anywhere close. "Could be Master Chriala can tell us more."

[Eir]

Eir nodded, "that was my other thought. But," she eyed the strange device, "if it draws on the Force, the Temple may help focus it?"

[Taime Jorel]

Taime listens intently, wondering what the heck this thing is. "Gloves. We should carry it with gloves. It might have some odd reaction if we touch it with bare skin."

[Silas Myles Pearson]

"It draws on the force to power it... Or that's my feel on it. Taking it to the temple might very well turn it on." That was a place strong in the force after all.

Turning to Esla he shook his head. "It feels similar to a holocron, but it's not like any I've seen before."
