The Jedi Temple on Ilum is the last known inhabited structure on the planet, aside from the small military base at Fray. It was constructed into the face of one of Ilum's larger mountain cliffs. The location was chosen in part due to its isolation, but more significantly, the extensive Crystal Caves which exist beneath the temple. The only known entrance to the Crystal Caves is through the Jedi Temple.

The most important feature of the temple is the Main Chamber. It is a vast, bell-shaped room, hundreds of meters high. Elegant pillars ring the room, along with two enormous statues of hooded Jedi, lightsabers held aloft. Giant transparisteel windows allow natural light into the room, even through the layers of ice. High above, like a chandelier, hangs an enormous khyber crystal, a circular stained-glass window in front of it, facing the outdoors.

Besides the Main Chamber, and the entrance to the Crystal Caves, there is little in the temple. Meditation chambers, and living quarters for the few guards. There are few public areas, with the Jedi assigned to Ilum tending to be meditative sorts, keeping to themselves. They are often only seen when shifts change, and two new masked and silent guardians take their place at the entrance to the Crystal Caves.
Coo! | Almost elegant features | Fine but understated |
