How to train your Mikkian [D9, EE]

Zizzy was pleased by the confidence in her abilities. She shut down her training saber rather than pressing an attack against a superior opponent. "Thank you Farissa. Like I said, I've been practicing. I was... disappointed by my performance at the temple." She looked at the Pantoran's saber. "That looks like an impressive weapon."

"This?" she ignited the saber at Zizzy's comment and gave it a spin. "My master also uses a weapon like this. It takes good hand-eye coordination to use, since you have more things to watch out for, and it can easily be difficult for opponents to deal with because of the same reasons."

"Want to try and hold it?"

Zizzy managed not to let her jaw drop at the suggestion. "I... Yes, please Farissa. For, um, research purposes."

She looked at the glowing blades. "Just in case."

Farissa carefully extended the large hilt to Zizzy, keeping it steady for the Mikkian to grab the weapon.

The hilt was much longer than a normal lightsaber's, and it seemed to have been customized for Farissa's use. Still, it gave Zizzy a good sense of what the weapon felt like.

Zizzy turned it over, testing the weight and biting the customised grip. "It's even more impressive close up. Looks like you've made some changes to suit your personal style. Maybe I can do that with mine one day."

Respectfully she handed the weapon back to its owner. "I think I would need to dedicate a lot of energy to working on my sense of balance before I'd feel comfortable using something like that."

"I've had a few more years on you to customize things," she said with a nod. "But I recommend doing it as you get more used to your new weapon, and have a better idea of how you want to use that weapon. Who knows, maybe you'll even rebuild your saber within a year because you've come to realise that you prefer it differently?"

Farissa turned off the blade as it was returned. "It's alright to take pride in your weapon as a Jedi."
