[D1 EE] Cramming

[Ares Pax]

Ares smiled. "Tell me about it. I just..." he shrugged. "Mainly there's a deeper lesson there..." he fell silent for a second. "Or maybe they're just looking for a justification on why they need a whole tower for a library and seven gajillion librarians."

[Mir]

"Deeper lessons? I'll tell you when I get there." Mir smirked. "Meanwhile I'm going through the Master Mus' history of the Republic."

[Ares Pax]

Ares nodded. "Yeah, I heard about him. Byron suggested Master Syo. I should see if I can find it here." He started tapping at the holo interface, and it seemed to search with the speed of a dead snail.

"At least tomorrow is lightsaber trials. My strongest subject."

[Mir]

"He's somewhere there among all the other master's. Why everyone has to write their own histories anyway. You'd think that they could just add what has happened during their lifetimes." Mir complained, his ears flat against his skull. "Well, I hope to do well too. Not my strongest suit... but I should do fine. I hope." he gulped. "What form you do?"

[Ares Pax]

"Juyo, Form Seven. It's a rare form." He turned pensive as he thought. Only used by loose cannons. "Well, I guess most Jedi need to do something when they are not winning the war or something."

[Mir]

"Seventh?! Whoa, that's crazy!" Mir exclaimed, his tail pluffing. "You just go and whack-whack-whack until there's nothing to whack anymore. It's whacky."

[Ares Pax]

Ares let out a chuckle. "A lightsaber is not a club. It has uses quite different from most weapons, and our nature also makes it different." He turned thoughtful. "Juyo makes use of the Force more than most other forms. Shii-cho is the first form, based on what people used with metal weapons. It is good in a melee, but does not use some of the more important qualities. Like reflecting blaster bolts. Soresu and Shien like that. There are variations in everything, of course."

[Mir]

"Right, juyo, not yujo. Sorry." Mir grinned in a cat-like manner, revealing his sharp teeth. "Well, if you kill people they die." he added matter-of-factly. I mean, all light saber combat is melee, no?" he was tad confused.

[Ares Pax]

Ares laughed. "Yes, usually that is how it goes. Most lightsaber fights are melee, but some are ranged until you get close. If they shoot at you, you have an option in addition to pray and look for cover." He gestured tohis training saber. "Though different forms focus differently. Juyo is not one for blasters, focusing more on melee and fighting against other force wielders. Among other things." He stretched his arms, his muscles creaking. "i studied the forms a lot in my youth."

[Mir]

"Well, it's more that you are getting shot. It's not really ranged combat unless you shoot back." he reached to pat the side where he carried his gun - an antique slug-caster he had picked up during his escape with Pollo. The jedi had handed him the gun back once he had been sure Mir wouldn't shoot him. Which had taken a week of their two week journey to Coruscant. "So... how do you fight a force fielder? You..." he waved his paw. "Toss them around and then stab them?"

"Well, it's more that you are getting shot. It's not really ranged combat unless you shoot back." he reached to pat the side where he carried his gun - an antique slug-caster he had picked up during his escape with Pollo. The jedi had handed him the gun back once he had been sure Mir wouldn't shoot him. Which had taken a week of their two week journey to Coruscant. "So... how do you fight a force fielder? You..." he waved his paw. "Toss them around and then stab them?"

Ares' eyes unfocused as he thought. "You need to be ready for anything. To be lifted, thrown, for lightning to show up. For a lightsaber in your face. You need to take into acocunt that whatever defenses you have, a lightsaber will ignore most of them. You need to avoid being hit, while hitting the enemy. Duels are mind games, same as physical contests."

[Mir]

"Doesn't sound too fun. Though, I don't think that anyone of us is going to fight anyone like that anytime soon. I mean, there's the Empire but there's peace now, right?" Mir asked.

[Ares Pax]

"Combat is not fun. Usually. Unless you're like me." He smiled, but it was a sad one. "Don't be like me." His voice was small as he spoke.

"There's peace now, and there was peace before. Hopefully, no one will have to suffer, but you never know. There might be someone out there, who wants to hurt others. One of our jobs is to stop that."

[Mir]

"Uh-nuh." Mir bobbed his head. "Well. I do like sparring. That's fun. Now having to stab people..." he grimaced. "I don't think I'd like it. Well, with few exceptions. There are bad people out there." Mir added quietly. "Who deserve to be stabbed. Several times."

[Ares Pax]

"Yeah... learning to hurt someone and actually hurting someone is different." He poked at the holo computer in front of himself. "Still, sparring is fun. Want to spar sometime?" He asked idly.

[Mir]

"Pretty sure we aren't supposed to do that. Hurt people that is. Unless we have to. And you know, it's not a murder if you drop someone to a naxxa pit." Mir grinned fiendishly. "I think. Eir didn't quite agree with that."

"Uh, I guess we could but, you know there's the trial tomorrow and then we are off. Maybe we can do something on the way?"
