[Day 3 - Early Morning] Breakfast on the steps

As the morning began on Coruscant, Esla was found at the steps of the temple. She was perhaps early enough to see the morning padawans take their place to guard the temple proper, relieving the night watch from their duties. It was rather surprising how minimalistic the defences were but perhaps it was better defended with obscurity. She pulled out a small bundle where she kept her breakfast when she made a quick run to the kitchen in the morning, also managing to score some fruit jam in the process.

(Expecting!)

"Hey, Esla. Good morning." Greeted a fellow youngling. He seemed to be going for easy going, but it was obviously fake. "Having breakfast out here? Sounds like a good idea. I couldn't eat anything this morning."

Esla was probably in the process of ripping her bun into two pieces when Ares approached her at the steps. She looked up, had to crane her neck way up to see Ares. Looking back down, she shifted from her seat to give Ares more room if he needed, despite the steps having more than enough room for everyone. She offered one piece of her bun at first then opted to offer both, as surely half wasn't going to be enough for him.

Ares sat down thankfully. "Thank you, but no. I.. I am fine. I had some herbal tea." He let out a breath. "Knowledge is not my strong suit."

Esla retracted both offerings when Ares didn't want them, mildly relieved that she didn't have to give up her breakfast to the giant. Someone as intimidating at him, the thought of having your lunch stolen did come to mind admittedly. She placed the bun on her lap and began to scrape the near-empty container for the green jam inside, cobbling together her breakfast for the day.

Tilting her head quizzically, wondering what he was eluding to for a moment, before shaking her head as her response to sympathize with the sentiment. She was not ready for whatever was going to be thrown at her.

"It's just... I'm not smart like you. I can fight, and thank the Force we stared with that. I just..." He glanced away. "What if I embarass myself?"

Esla narrowed her eyes on Ares, looking a bit confused as to what he was eluding to in the conversation. She gave a slow shake of her head to disagree with him.

"I don't think I'm that smart..." She murmured finally after her long silence. "I don't think you'll embarrass yourself."

"Thank you... hopefully not. I think you're surely smarter than me, though that is a low bar." He fell silent, pondering for a moment. "Have you given thought which master would you like to study with, after graduating?"

Esla gave Ares two bemused blinks at his compliment, wondering where he was drawing this from. She had only passed the lightsabre test so far and that didn't involve much with brains. She supposed lightsabre skill might equate to smartness with him? "...It looked like you did well with the lightsabers."

She took a small nibble from her bun and gave a small shake of her head as she was swallowing. "...Do we get a choice? I don't know...Master Farissa seems nice."

"Thanks... though that was one area I expected to do well." He sighed. "Well... I don't know. Just a thought exercise." He smiled at the though. "She does know her stuff, it feels. Hrm... studying under Knight Zhell could be... interesting."

Esla took a moment to take a few more bites from her make-shift breakfast as she listened to Ares once more. "Uhm, oh...Why's that? I heard Master Zell was a veteran of the war." She mentioned and looked at Ares questioningly, wondering if he was taken by war epics or wanted to fight the Sith.

"I don't think he likes me." Replied Ares, embarrassed.

"Oh..." Esla said with a befuddled blink at that. "You didn't mean interesting 'good' then..."

"Are you sure of that?" Some of the Masters seem pretty intimidating at first glance. "It's hard to know what they are thinking sometimes."
