Soup for the soul (D1, MA) [Open]

#1 Postby Faily » Mon Jan 14, 2019 10:16 pm

For the residents of the industrial area, it was a welcome sight to see the group of workers from the Jedi Temple begin to set up the soup kitchen at the edge of the Black Sun territory. The people here didn't have much, and few outsiders dared to venture to these parts often. Murah Bakash was one of those people who didn't shy away from where there were people in need.

The few younglings who were with her were a bit more on edge than usual, as they had heard bad things about the Black Sun too, but the presence of the Master and a Jedi Knight provided a good feeling of security.

Soon enough, people began arriving in groups to the kitchen...

"There is enough for everyone," Murah spoke in her calming voice as she began serving out soup. And the people seemed comfortable enough with her instructions that they politely lined up for sustenance.

Mir was there, clad in his robes and wearing his cowl. Not that he particularly minded being seen, rather he preferred the sense on anonymity hos garb gave him. It was not Mir the Farghul helping the poor - it was yet another student. He paid little heed to the people he served, though to the young man's credit he did try to smile as he handed out the bowls. Chances were that most of the people would just see the farghul squinting his eyes.

Eir’s belly had been empty enough times in the short years before she came to the Order, and she’d taken her share of soup kitchen meals from the other side of the soup pot. To her, it was simply a foregone conclusion that she would help out when she had the time to spare, even if she needed a small box to stand on to be able to reach anything properly.

It was also well known that she had a soft spot for the youngest of needy, slipping what little extra she could into the bowls of the smaller children.

Nudging Mir with an elbow, “don’t look so gloomy.”

"I'm not gloomy." he retorted. "I'm feeling pretty good." Mir squinted his eyes to offer her a smile of his own. With a snout like his, a human like smile would have been more a grin - or even a threat. "I like to help when I can. " Mir nodded, his ears flopping beneath his hood. "Plus the soup's good."

The Black Sun were dangerous and Byron knew that all too well but this was important and a Jedi did not back down because some thugs wanted to push back and inflict misery on others. He arrived with a smile and looked to help in any way he could.

“I couldn’t tell. Hey, smile, with your teeth,” she prompted, handing a plate to a waiting rodian.

Murah made sure to express her gratitude to the students when she could, with kind smiles and nods. It wasn't the glamorous side to being a Jedi that most thought of when they daydreamed about being a big hero saving people, but almost any student in the temple on Coruscant had accompanied the Miralian master on at least one occassion to do "good work", as she would call it.

And the soup was indeed good. Maybe not high cuisine, but it was nutritious, warm to the soul, and would fill the belly.

"Are you a jedi too?" a young Rodian, maybe ten years old or so, asked as she looked up at the very big figure of Byron.

Mir tried, managing to look like a stratt than a humanoid with sharp pronounced canines. "Hlike Thliss?" It was hard to speak with your mouth open.

Byron smiled wide as he knelt down and said, “Well I am like a Jedi in training, you can call me Byron. What’s your name, friend?”

Eir stifled a laugh, “okay, that’s worse, go back to what you were doing.” She dishes up another plate, “hey, Byron.”

Mir closed his mouth with an audible chomp and turned to look at the dark skinned human. This one was called Byron, Mir was fairly sure. Eir had called him that at least.

"I'm Tuulo." She looked to the others speaking with Byron too. "Are you in training too?"

“You gonna help or are you just gonna flex?” she shot back in a friendly tone, leaning over the counter and slipping a cookie to a kid whose pants looked like they were so old, they’d disintegrate at any moment. “We sure are,” she answered Tuulo.

“Tuulo, welcome. Eir, Tuulo looks mighty hungry make sure to fill his bowl so he can grow big and strong and be a fine hunter,” he said warmly.

He glanced at the others and added, “We are all training, but all of us are here to help. It is what Jedi do.”

Meanwhile Mir kept pouring soup for the poor, his furry paws carefully grasping the ladle. "We have enough for all, please be patient." he murmured to everyone and no-one particular.

Eir elbowed the farghul, “you’re not a robot. Unless you are, in which case, disengage your vocal protocol, you’re gonna scare the kids.” When Tuulo came up to get his bowl, the girl made sure to fill it a little bit extra.

"I'm not a droid." he half-snapped back at Eir. "He did shut up however, returning wordlessly to the task at paw.

Tuulo smiled at the little extra bit she was given. Or rather, smiled as much as a Rodian was capable of, which meant the trumpet-like snout shaped itself almost into a u-form.

"Do Jedi do that?" she looked curiously at Mir and Eir's antics, which looked a bit like bickering to her.
