The Greater Good

Day 1:
Time: Late Evening
Location: Dealer's Den Cantina, Galactic Market
Participants: 4 PCs. High potential for combat.

The Dealer's Den is a mix of the refined members of Coruscanti society relaxing and shady characters looking to make a profit. As you mingle with the various patrons, hearing snippets of conversations here and there, you pick up something more distressing than just local gossip... Someone has hired a hit-job on Senator Zirl Imogh. And not just anybody either as you overhear this from the three Mandalorians that have been hired for the job!

The three Mandalorians finish their last drink and get ready to leave. What do you do?

Bonus: Players may roll Education (Intellect) or Knowledge: Core Worlds (Intellect) against Average Difficulty (◆◆) with 1 Boost die due to the recent Holonews on Senator Zirl Imogh.

Byron listened and searched his thoughts for what he knew that could use to possibly slow these Mandalorian thugs down or intercede on behalf of the senator. His hood up he watched and waited to find a moment to do something heroic or stupid. This was a ‘big pants’ moment as Lunda would put it.

Now he needed really big pants.

Ares was next to Byron, his stature and stance radiating the friendly aura of a cyborg lawman bent on revenge.

Taime lurked in the corner, wrapped closely in his thermal cloak and listening closely. I suspect I can't charm them out of doing something. This'll be a different sort of thing.

O'vala leaned towards Taime. "Uh, should we go in there and whack them? Or do we have another plan?"

A Jedi was never alone as long as they had the Force, but other Jedi even those in training tended to better the odds. He nodded at the others and said, “Follow my lead, Ares… try to look… well you got it, yeah that face, your normal face.”

“Taime and O’vala, let’s try and keep this cordial, but Mandalorians tend to love a good fight,” he said before the things started to heat up.

Byron can recall having heard the name of the senator before, as there have been some news coverages about him on and off the past years. Senator of Kinyen, the Gran homeworld, Zirl Imogh has served his tenure for 10 years. He has been a vocal member of the Senate the past two years, railing against the Republic's impotence in the face of the Sith Empire and speaking of the plight of the common people that have lost families and livelihoods because of failed military strategies. His opinion of the current peace treaty is well-known to be overall negative, claiming that it makes the Republic look weak.

Ares needs a bit more time to jog his memory as the name doesn't ring any bells... but he knows that those three Mandalorians have been a staple in the Dealer's Den cantina for a long time, and that they are part of clan Ordo - which is not affiliated with the Mandalorians currently at odds with the world of Bankor.

---

The Mandalorian trio put on their helmets as they casually walk out of the Dealer's Den cantina, keeping a calm pace for now. One of them seem to wobble a bit, as he may have already consumed a bit too much in pre-celebration drinking.

Now... what do you choose to do? Confront the Mandalorians now? Hurry to the Senator to warn him of the danger? Report it to Coruscant Security Forces? Report it to the Jedi Masters? Or maybe just let fate run its course for a dissenter in the Senate?

Byron said to the others quietly, “Those Mandalorians are hired killers, I don’t like the idea of allowing them to go free to murder a senator and there may not be time to reach him. No matter his politics, we can’t allow that. My vote is intercede gently, and if things turn ugly I am sure we can sort them out.”

"What if I run off to get someone? I'm pretty fast. And they're being pretty slow."

Byron glanced at the others, before he voiced his opinion on that tactic. While it did prevent them from being put in harm’s way allowing someone else to do a job they could have done did not sit right with him. At the same time as the eldest he felt responsibility for their well being and knew that sometimes allowing others better at the task to handle it was the right call.

Taime thought as quickly as he could, feeling things spin up. "We should com the masters before anything. Just so someone knows what's happening besides us." He looked at the others. "O'vala, you wanna handle that? And maybe two of us can follow them and keep them in sight."

"I can tryand have a talk with them. Tell them it's a bad idea." He frowned. "We can reach the Masters via holo as well, no?"

Taime looks over. "I don't have a holo link but I do have a comlink. If we could take a holo though, that might be good. Easier to identify them."

"Ares with me, let's dissuade them. Rest of you contact the Masters and stay close by," Byron said moving forward.

Ares nodded and moved forward, letting his natural frown deepen as he moved to intercept.

"Hey fellas. I wouldn't do it if I were you." He stood in front of the three Mandalorians, eyeing each of them in return. "This isn't just some job. You'll make an enemy of the Republic. Of the Order. Not just you. Clan Ordo as well. Are you ready for that responsibility? To face up to that?" He stood an inch closer, stepping into their personal space.

The three Mandalorians turn to face them as they hear Ares speak.

"Oy," she looked to her brothers, "I told you this was a dirty job, Javask."

Image
"Like the Republic's never paid us before to do their dirty work against eachother, Perl."

Image
"I ain't getting involved with Jedi. But I ain't taking kindly to being threatened by a pair of kids either," he didn't quite reach for his weapon yet, but he turned to fully face the group of Jedi-trainees now. "You some kind of big hero, kid? Huh? Or is your mouth just running off?"

"Normally I'd tell you to shut your pie-hole, Vark, but he did just threaten us," Javask added, moving up beside his brother.

"Kids, run along before you get hurt." Perl sighed. Why did she have such dumb brothers.

Image
"Oh no, let's have some fun first. Besides, you're always telling me to be more serious about such insults to us and the Ordo, aren't you, sis?" Vark chuckled, unclipping the harness for his carbine. "But I can be sporting. I'll give you kids a count of three to get a headstart on your running."
