"Good morning, Ilum." The stern-looking man wearing a Republic officer's uniform spoke directly into the camera; the colors blended in with the enormous flag on display behind his desk "As you arise and go about your business for the day, remember that every day is a new chance to serve the great Republic in which we live. Act accordingly."
He managed something like a smile. "As many of you know, a group of Jedi have arrived on the planet. If any of the Jedi are watching this, allow me to welcome you on behalf of Fray Landing Base. My name is Commander Makob Dorn. On behalf of my base and the Republic, I salute you." He did so, solemnly and firmly bringing his hand up in a stiff military salute. He held it a long moment before his hand came back down. "Know that you are the sword which helps to keep our Republic safe. Please accept our warm welcome." A slight smile at his joke.
After a moment, he cleared his throat, glancing down at his notes. "Today is warm by Ilum standards. High temperatures will be just above freezing during certain parts of the day." His expression grew more serious, somehow. "I expect that there will be some expeditions to Holonesh Canyon, or exploring the caves. Remember, the chance of avalanche is significantly increased during the warm season. I trust you will not force the Republic to expend resources on rescuing you from your own foolishness."
Another glance down at the notes, and a stern look back at the camera. "A reminder, this base is in support of the anti-gambling legislation. Games of chance such as 'Pazaak' are hereby not permitted."
Once more, he managed something like a smile. "This is Commander Makob Dorn, signing off. A very pleasant and productive day to you."
The image faded as patriotic music began to play.
